In discussing the Conservative Movement (in a thread by CatWoman) it was mentioned that the word "selfishness"
describes the movement. John Kenneth Galbrath said it And that is the bottom line to all of it. Not wanting to
spend government money to help others is another way to put it. So many ways, such an easy definition

If looked at very closely, conservatives want low taxes on rich, and higher taxes on poor or middle class.
The rich they will say: "We pay too much in taxes"
.......although there are countless ways the rich use to avoid taxes.

But who is raising the taxes on the middle class and the poor? It's the democrats that's who. Do you think that inflation, high gas prices, high utility costs hurt the rich? Nope. These things hurt the middle and lower classes the most and the cause of these things can be laid at the feet of Biden and pals. Biden cut our energy production and increased the cost of transportation which exacerbated inflation and added to the cost of everything. He knew this would happen and did it anyway. The childish and selfish liberal ideology to cancel everything Trump did caused all of this so before you label conservatives as immature and selfish, take a good long look in the mirror.

So ironically put, from the party of "gimme free stuff".
We conservatives aren't selfish in the least. If one actually earns something, one deserves it. The Democrat party wants to set up a permanent underclass that depends only on government to suckle upon.

This is...what results from a typical leftist trap.
The left preaches about 'rational self interest' when it comes to freebies, but when someone decides that something is in their own rational self interests, and it is something with which the left disagrees, like gun ownership, well, you're obviously 'selfish'.
Ship them to north korea for a year, and see how much they like collectivism afterward.

I know that logic before DUmmies is pearls before swine...but the there is quite the change of terms being used here. 'Selfishness' is 'not wanting to spend government money' - with the implication that 'generosity' is 'wanting to spend government money'. In reality generosity is being willing to give of one's own money - the left are desperate to steal other people's money (via taxation) to throw at every problem (real and imagined, and regardless of the effect of the spending on the problem). It strikes me as profoundly selfish to expect somebody else to pay for every crackpot idea one was has to waste money, rather than to delve into one's own pocket and voluntarily give one's own money to a charity or some such enterprise.
