Don't mess with Texas: Beto bids Biden stay away from campaign trail

President Biden will not be getting a big Texas welcome from gubernatorial candidate Beto O’Rourke. The Democrat said Sunday he will be keeping his distance from Biden, telling CNN’s “State of the Union” he has declined to invite the president to help out on the campaign trail.
“This campaign in Texas is not going to be about Joe Biden. It’s not going to be about Donald Trump. It’s not going to be about anyone from outside of our state. This is going to be about the people of Texas and what the people of Texas want,” O’Rourke said. “I’m focused on Texas and on my fellow Texans. Those are the people most important to me,” he added. “There’s no politician, there’s no other person from outside of this state who can help change the course of this election, for better or for worse.
In his effort to flip the biggest red state in the country, O’Rourke’s run sets up one of 2022′s highest-profile — and potentially most expensive — races for governor.
“I want to help bring this state together not as Democrats, not as Republicans, but as Texans, and get back after doing the big things that Texas used to be known for,” said O’Rourke, who came close to winning a Senate seat in Texas in 2018.

2. Yeah...an appearance side by side with Joe Biden is not what would torpedo your campaign.
But, something you said about taking away people's guns just might.
Beto is either incredibly politically naive, or he's looking for someone to blame if things don't go his way.

I’m not sure pushing openly against a president well liked by the Dems is the right thing. He isn’t going to convince Tx gqp to vote for him..so how does that work?
If "Beto" knew Texas, he'd leave it and run for dogcatcher in Maine.

1. Bobby is less stupid than McAwful, who did try to make the VA gubernatorial race about Trump, until he belatedly figured out it was state issues and his foot-in-mouth dismissal thereof that were driving VA's vote.

Betcha Beta has bitch of a time even selling it there.
Texas recently became "Constitutional Carry" to loud acclaim cross the state. Being specifically FOR rolling back liberty after the state government finally relaxed its grip on the citizens' gun hands would be a tough sell to even the full blown Marxist scum stinking up the works in Austin.
Just my two cents. Feel free to give me change.

I have lived in Texas almost my entire 75 years on this earth. Anyone who says they will confiscate guns in this state will never get elected to anything. Democrats need someone who can appeal to the majority of voters. And like it or not, the majority of Texans like guns. Period.

I do not think it is a matter of liking or not liking guns, Texans may look at confiscating guns the same way anyone would look at confiscating hammers...they would not see the sense in it.
