Mayor-elect dismisses Black Lives Matter threats of riots if NYPD unit resurrected
NEW YORK CITY (WABC) -- New York City Mayor-elect Eric Adams met with Black Lives Matter Greater New York Wednesday, a conversation that ended in heated fashion with organizers threatening protests and violence if Adams brings back the controversial plainclothes NYPD anti-crime unit.
Adams plans on doing just that, promising he would resurrect the undercover police unit that was deeply involved with stop and frisk.
"If they think they are going to go back to the old ways of policing, then we are going to take to the streets again," Black Lives Matter's Hawke Newsome said. "There will be riots. There will be fire. And there will be bloodshed."

I’m not in a position to bring over their posts, but if an R had said this they would have sided with blm. But the mayor is a Dem, so different.

He's a BLM leader who's been denied a demand he just made.
So, of course he is. It's how BLM believes in responding to any turn of events that they don't like.
and, yeah, bottomofthehill was almost certainly being sarcastic. Dr. King was a known pacifist and devout advocate of nonviolent resistance who encouraged his followers to be the same way, which was a big part of the reason why the Black Panthers/ Nation of Islam crowd (aka the sorts of people whose views were in almost perfect harmony with those that BLM spouts today) called Dr. King and his followers "Chumps" and "Uncle Toms."

In June 2020, then-U.S. President Donald Trump falsely described Newsome in a tweet as a "Black Lives Matter leader." This description of Newsome prompted a response from Managing Director of the Black Lives Matter Global Network Foundation Kailee Scales, who stated that Newsome "has no relation to the Black Lives Matter Global Network", "is not the "president" of BLM or any of its chapters.", and that his group "is not a chapter of BLM and has not entered into any agreement with BLM agreeing to adhere to BLM's core principles.", adding "The only official chapter of BLM in New York is Black Lives Matter NYC."
In 2021, Newsome called for an "independent investigation" into the BLM Global Network's finances after it was reported that Black Lives Matter co-founder Patrisse Cullors purchased four homes for $3.2 million.
IOW, the distinction between "Black Lives Matter of Greater New York" and "Black Lives Matter Global Network" Star Moron uponit7771 made is a distinction without any meaningful difference. At some point Newsome probably declined to knuckle under to some leader in the latter and got "excommunicated". His crazy is open and public, theirs is kept within their inner circle.
