Trump-Loving Minneapolis Cops Accused of Delaying Backup for Liberal Officer on Dangerous Calls
Published on October 30, 2021 at 10:20 AM ET
By John Wright – Raw Story
A liberal Minneapolis police officer has quit and left the country after she says she was relentlessly harassed by fellow officers for not supporting former president Donald Trump.
Colleen Ryan was the only Minneapolis police officer disciplined in connection with the department’s response to George Floyd protests last year — for “speaking without permission to a magazine columnist about what she called a toxic, para-militant police culture that breeds dangerous officers like Derek Chauvin,” the Minneapolis Star-Tribunereports.
Ryan has filed a complaint with the Minnesota Department of Human Rights alleging she was discriminated against because she’s a lesbian who advocated for “women and queer officers” in the workplace.
In her complaint, Ryan alleges she was denied a promotion to become a field training officer earlier this year. Meanwhile, two straight men from her shift were promoted – one who violated the department’s search and seizure policy, and another who faces drunken-driving charges.

19. It would be quite satisfying for me to know for a fact that......
racist, sadistic, free rein, testosterone addicted cops all across America feel and flee the hot breath of justice bearing down on their red necks and that an end to their reign of terror approaches. Were it to become a trend, it could empower good cops to police their own rather than quit, leaving us with only the neo-SS, the dregs of society, as they act out their psychotically lethal vagaries.
What it is profitable for laymen to consider is that, despite the relatively low wages for LEOs, many of them are still in it for the money. It's the only job, though by design insurmountably dead end, available which accommodates some people's motivation/IQ peculiarity.
Our society will suffer until we decide that maximum compensation for work done should always go to teachers and policemen while everybody else gratefully pays them their due.

35. So if the system can't be reformed and is abolished as you advocate, what then?
What would you put in the place of police departments as a law enforcement mechanism?

36. The abolitionist model means taking the resources we dedicate to the cops and instead diverting them
to build stronger communities to reduce crime. We know what causes crime; giving those efforts the resources we instead give to cops would be transformative.

40. That's absurd on its face.
The US spends roughly $100 billion a year on police and a further $80 billion on incarceration. That amount of money is not going to bring about some utopian paradise where police are no longer needed because crime doesn't exist.
There is no society in the history of humanity that had zero crime, and there will never be a society that has zero crime. Crime will always exist because human nature is what it is. That being the case, there will always be a need for law enforcement. Pretending otherwise is laughable.

22. "Trump loving cops" is much too mild
Fascist Swine, Nazi-lookalikes is closer to the truth.
BTW, The murderer cop, Chauvin, was a training officer despite a rap sheet of brutality complaints a mile long. And she gets iced out because she spoke with a reporter?
Maybe it’s time for Mpls to consider cancelling its entire police force and starting over with a new one, less intransigently Fascist?

41. Eliminate all police unions?
I don't know the legal difficulties, but I think police unions should not be allowed. Nationally. I live in Minneapolis &, for decades, there have been genuine efforts to connect our police force to Mpls. communities & to reign in bad police practices & conduct. But the police union always says, "Nope. Won't work." Or they pay lip service to it & nothing gets done. So it's the union. They insulate the force from the people they serve. They encourage the idea the world is out to get them. Sure, in dangerous neighborhoods it IS bad. But not everyone is against cops. As for the Mpls. ballot question on dismantling our police force & instead forming some new, as yet undefined safety dept., the strongest group against ending the police dept. are Black folk. The very people you'd think would be FOR this reform measure, given the police murder of George Floyd. (I have voted against the question.) It's not that there's a special love between Mpls. cops & our Black community. It is that these are our most at risk residents & they realize how necessary having police protectors are. The problems go back to the union & its president, Kroll. THEY are the ones who resolutely thwart progress. The mayor fires a bad cop; the union finds a judge to reinstate him. The police chief tries to institute new policy; the union ignores it. A new recruit joins the force with progressive college officer training; the old-timers tell him/her, "No, this is how we do it here." I imagine these are problems across the country. It will require a national solution. Can't be just local or state. I am pro-union, but serving the public good must take precedence. NOT a good-ol-boy network, with longtime officers who quite like their power & feel little compunction expressing their bigoted views in their daily police work. Even if a civilian (a person of color) occasionally gets killed because of it. I firmly believe police reform will get nowhere until ALL police unions are disallowed. They exist to be an obstacle. Could our U.S. armed forces function if soldiers/marines/sailors/airmen were allowed to unionize? NO! And we see having police forces unionized also doesn't work. More to the point, it creates a situation that is genuinely dangerous. They cannot be controlled by elected mayors & city councils or appointed police chiefs. It's dangerous to individuals (George Floyd) & dangerous to our democracy. Every day we read about more officers publicly siding with the Jan. 6 insurrectionists & our Know-Nothing former president. Police unions have fostered this kind of irresponsible behavior. In a 2nd U.S. civil war, many of 'em would fight with the fascists. Very bad. Civilian control needs to be reestablished. Get rid of police unions. (Sorry for the length of this letter.)

42. The FBI needs to start infiltrating local police forces in
order to weed out the fascists.
Once enough of them get busted, the rest of them will be afraid of getting busted.

The female is an obvious defeated troublemaker crapping on the many decent police officers in Minneapolis. She's probably POed that the city has figured out that defunding the police was a really bad idea, and she's trying to interfere that trend toward sanity.

has quit and left the country
Seems to be a very extreme reaction to me.

For those who aren't aware, according to wikipedia:
# cops per 100,000 population
534 Spain
516 Russia
465 Mexico
456 Italy
422 France
362 Northern Ireland
336 Germany
318 Scotland
279 Isle of Man
265 Ireland
239 United States
211 England and Wales
As for all the other socialist democratic countries, the former communist countries, the peace-loving countries, pretty much all the rest of them also have more than 239 cops per 100,000.
I hardly think we're over-policed.

Didn’t Slick Willy try to put 100,000 new cops on the street? I guess ole Bill and Hillary would be part of “The police are the front-line soldiers of American Fascism” enablers.

In a story with more red flags than a Soviet May Day parade, that may be the biggest. There must be 10 or 20 deep-blue cities that would welcome her, if she's into law enforcement rather than being a Freaktivist.

has quit and left the country
alleging she was discriminated against because she’s a lesbian who advocated for “women and queer officers” in the workplace.
She is an activist first, and could not compete with real cops. So she lies about them upon her exit.
Leaving the country? Overly dramatic. Flight and not fight is a mark of a professional litigator, not a cop. She never intended to stay with the force.
Just looking at her face, I see the lies. what a drama queen.

We should weed out the fascists in the FBI, first.
