As Hurricane Gustav wreaks havoc on New Orleans as well as the schedule of the Republican National Convention, right-thinking Americans awoke to some good news Monday: MSNBC's Keith Olbermann will not be covering the festivities in Minneapolis-St. Paul, at least for the time being.
Apparently, Olbermann has been sent to New York to cover the hurricane.
We at NewsBusters who are here in the Twin Cities are deeply saddened by this announcement, as we were very much looking forward to having a serious political discussion with the "Countdown" host.

Actually KO and a few others at PMSNBC have been having huge arguments over who is in charge over there. I'm guessing the real people in charge are teliing KO that we might have to put you on the air but we don't have to give the biggest event of the week to do it

KO will be at the NFL network after PMSNBC goes under !

Um, the NFL Network asked Bryant Gumbel to leave, so I don't think they'll be talking to Keith anytime soon. I think Olbie would make a good replacement for the foghorn at MSG during Rangers games.
That was his most significant contribution to sports, at least that's what I think. That and knowing where NASCAR driver Dick Trickle finished each week.
