Tremendous loss of blood and treasure. "Out of Afghanistan" is the referred book on the matter.

The Russian miniseries "9 Rota" does a great job on explaining the war from the Russian perspective.

ETA: Looking at W'pedia, I see that I was wrong. The Soviets withdrew from Afghanistan in February 1989. The dissolution of the Soviet Union began in summer 1991, just ~2 1/2 years later.

DUpipo need to maintain their illusion that Reagan-GHWB had nothing to do with the crumbling of the USSR.

I'm trying to think of a good reason why we shouldn't exploit the cowardice and incompetence we've seen on display to drive the leftists from our midst.

Imagine helicopters taking off from the roof of the UN building as the professors, careerists, journalists, and pink haired activists desperately scramble to flee to Cuba.
