"It's not going to be peaceful much longer. We're building, we're organizing."
Tweet text:
Ron Filipkowski
@RonFilipkowski
Carlos Piccata, who says he is a combat vet, to the Shasta, CA county commission: “It’s not going to be peaceful much longer. We’re building, we’re organizing. You won’t stop us when the time comes. This is a warning for what’s coming. There’s a million people just like me.”

Guess the guy's name is Zapata, not Piccata.

51. I figure it's part evil, part bully complex
To feel better by putting others down - down “in their place”- with intent to enforce it physically. Calling in just gripers gonna gripe doesn’t capture the intent to do harm.

37. Why are they always so violent?
When elections were seemingly stolen from Al Gore and Hillary Clinton, we were rightly pissed off, but there was no violence.
I attended 12 protests in 2016 and 2017. Not one incidence of violence.

11. And the terrible fires in that region in 2017 and 2018.
The largest city, Redding has a huge retirement population and of economic dependency on that retired community and tourism. A few years ago it was where more heart surgeries took place than anywhere else in the nation.

https://www.nytimes.com/2002/11/04/business/california-patients-talk-of-needless-heart-surgery.html
The locals in the area have been in economic distress for decades, and are often part of that insane divide California movement to make N. Cal the state of Jefferson.
The speaker is representative of his demographic, a left behind Citizen who did not want to or could not move to economic opportunity and while the official (conservative led) U.S. Government policy has been to focus on moving the U.S. population from rural areas to urban centers.
Like how the entire middle and agriculture center of the U.S. has been decimated by corporate ag taking over what was once family farms, achieved by farm policy that was changed in the 70s to favor corporate and monopolized food production over family farms followed by the deliberately created farm bubble bust of the 80s where millions of family farms were bankrupted. This was achieved by inflating the value, aggressively selling loans, special loans that could be called in by the lenders with only a few days notice and were.

3. Call them what they are treasonous American Taliban
These idiotic zealots who have swallowed the corrupt right wing conspiracy theories and the slobfather's Big Lie are beyond reach of reason. They need to be tried and locked up till they are old and neutered from society.

4. Fast forward to his ass crying in court about how "he didn't mean it". I'm really tired of

9. Plus they stand in the way....
of the rest of us who are trying to get a grip on the deadly pandemic that's killing Americans by the hundreds of thousands.
But they want everything open with no precautions taken, no masks being worn. They want to ignore all that and have, " business as usual". He has no idea that this is happening worldwide, and it's not just he and his pals who are hurting. They won't do anything to try to stop the spread of this disease, so they're the very reason it's prolonged. But he just keeps getting madder and madder at everyone else.
Chances are good that this idiot will get COVID and die before his "revolution" ever gets off the ground. The same with all his revolutionary friends.

8. They are armed and we are not. It will only take another Trump to encourage armed violence and we will see it happen.
Star Member SergeStorms (12,107 posts)
13. "We are not"?
There's more of us who are armed than this bozo thinks. We don't worship guns like them, but we're here, we're armed, and if push comes to shove there will be more resistance than they ever dreamed of there being.
They see all Democrats as being unarmed and passive. Do we have a surprise for them.

16. The only people I see currently challenging the armed right wing is Antifa.
ShazamIam (972 posts)
35. And both former AG Barr and FBI Director Wray said there is no antifa as an organization and that those arrested for violence during the Floyd protests were not linked to any leftists group but to militias. (he didn't say right wing) specifically but even conservative media aren't claiming there are armed and organized antifa operators.
Barr made a public announcement, Wray testified that to Congress.

1. This speech was a year ago, so DU probably had an up-and-downer about it back then. Piccata didn't mean what Ron Filipkowski wants Proggies to believe he meant.
2. Context matters, which is why Ron Filipkowski, whoever he is, didn't give the context. Here is a link to a video of Piccata's brief speech, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R6iHHkIrzsU

Enough has been said about left-wing violence in these and other circumstances, and the general lack of violence in most of the events involving supposedly bloodthirsty Tea Party and MAGA folks, so I won't repeat it.
As for dems who weren't violent, perhaps they don't believe their own nonsense about stolen elections.

If the right were as violent as the left portrays them, ANTIFA really would be just an idea.
