This is absolutely hysterical and should no doubt go down in history as the most frivolous lawsuit ever filed.
$5 in actual damages and $10 in punitive damages.
Plaintiffs allege that, as a direct consequence and result of the acts of Defendants herein above complained of, Plaintiffs have been deprived of liberty for substantial periods of time, suffered much anxiety and distress over the separation from their families, and much discomfort and embarrassment and their reputations impaired, and have lost much time from their homes and the companionship and care of their families and have been required to spend substantial sums of money and of time traveling to and from the State of Texas to persuade Congress to pass laws to ameliorate the harm done and redress their grievances.

Dem state judge Brad Urrutia issues a 14-day temporary (yeah, right) restraining order that says that the Dem politicians that have abandoned their post can't be arrested, even if they return to Texas.
Not sure how that stacks up against the Texas Supreme Court, but there you go.

The theater is over. The whiny bitch Texas Dems came back enough to form a quorum and the election reform bill was passed, though there was much anguish, garments rendering, and teeth gnashing.
Good news for a change:

The runaway Texas Democrats proved they could be obnoxious, offensive, cost Texas a lot of money, and spread COVID around when they fled to Washington, D.C. to avoid a quorum in the Texas House to prevent a vote on an election integrity bill. The aim of the bill was to build up voter identification rules and be stricter on vote-by-mail rules.
Democrats tried to paint the bill as “racist” — despite not being able to cite one person who would be prohibited from voting based on race. It was all just a propaganda effort. Democrats showed how hypocritical it all was when they had one of their members filibuster the bill in the Texas Senate, while arguing that the U.S. Senate filibuster is “racist” and should be eliminated. That was unsuccessful, with the bill passing in the Senate.
But ultimately, the runaway Democrats were betrayed by their own members who came back and finally established a quorum. There were 121 members present yesterday. The House passed a slightly revised version of the Senate bill, 80-41.
