Only 25 ICU beds available in Arkansas as COVID cases surge

https://www.localmemphis.com/mobile/article/news/health/coronavirus/no-icu-beds-available-arkansas-health-officials-say/91-5691621a-b46d-46ab-9461-a0e9b3e3c5ba

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — The Arkansas Secretary of Health Dr. Jose Romero said there is no space in any state hospitals for inpatient care (ICU beds.)

In a meeting on Wednesday, Aug. 4, Dr. Romero asked the steering committee to direct money from the American Rescue Plan to get more hospital staff and beds for COVID-19 patients.

A hospital bed would cost $4,000 each.

Dr. Rawle Seupaul, the UAMS Chief Medical Officer said the hospital can't give adequate care to patients as the delta variant is causing mostly unvaccinated Arkansans to receive inpatient care.

On Edit: more at link.

Why don't hospitals impose a vax requirement tor covid care? Dead serious here!

How dare these idiots present to hospitals for scientific care after refusing vax & masking?

What about people who are injured in car or home accidents, have heart attacks or strokes, etc?

I'm furious about ghis coddling of these shitbags!

So here's the question I'm really waiting to see asked over there;  WHEN is Biden going to send hospital beds and tents and supplies, to these states the DUmmies keep telling us are running out of hospital beds and nurses?  Hell, when is he going to send the Navy medical ships to Miami and New Orleans?

Hey, DUmmies ... what are his plans?!  What is he doing?!  He's just going to let all those people DIE, or worse?!

Looking at the daily New Cases, Active Cases and daily Deaths charts here, https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/usa/arkansas/ , I have a couple of questions:

1. Both the daily New Cases and the Active Cases chart are significantly lower currently than they were in December and January. Why are Arkansas hospitals unable to handle now what they handled in December and January?

2. The daily Deaths chart numbers are less than half those of December and January. How is this not evidence that the percentage of serious cases is lower (= lower percentage of hospitalization) now than then?

The claim that, "there is no space in any state hospitals for inpatient care," is :bs2flag:  :bs2flag:  :bs2flag:  :bs2flag:  :bs2flag: .

And since the India variant (that Delta one, but it originated in India) has emerged, the lib media always reports cases and not deaths.  Infuriating.

Knee-jerk reaction to question number 1 is that the floors and rooms that were converted and reserved for Kung-flu patients during the peak are back to being used for other patients, putting some limits on the beds available.

Something else you don't hear about since 1/20/21, testing.  Remember all the crying about testing the DUmmies were doing?  Where did all that rage go?

This is basically true, in the sense that rooms that were suitable were adapted for use with Covid patients. The room I was in was a two-bed room with one bed removed and doors adapted for a decent seal. After the peak in early January and precipitous drop new cases, many rooms - actually whole floor sections - reverted to ordinary use.

Guess what else Worldometers tracks, https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/#countries . They track tests per million population. The US compared to several European Countries:

US - 1.622 million

France - 1.633 million

UK - 3.633 million

Spain - 1.222 million

Italy - 1.296 million

And several countries with less robust healthcare systems:

India - 340.5 thousand

Brazil - 257 thousand

Turkey - 807.5 thousand

South Africa - 250 thousand

Thailand - 116 thousand

Egypt - 29.4 thousand

So, two points are obvious from that data:

1. Among large countries with robust healthcare systems, the US is doing just fine; there is no lack of testing. When, at the peak of the winter surge, I got tested (and was positive), there were two days between phoning to set up an appointment and doing the test. IOW, when testing was probably at or near a peak, tests were easily available.

2. Compared to many countries in the world, the US is as much as 1 or 2 magnitudes greater in number of tests per million population. That means that many countries' daily new cases and daily deaths charts on Worldometers are probably significantly under-stated, possibly by an order of magnitude or two. Translated into DUmmie-Speak, the US and Western EuroLand are selfishly hogging all the Covid tests!

Do they track the testing by dates?  In other words, do we know if we're doing more, or less testing by month or year?
