1. That's extremly unfortunate.
...mostly because it's garbage legislation. Banning some weapons because they "look scary" is just dumb.
DING DING DING!!! We have a Winnah!!!!

10. Except that Obama specifically mentioned "keeping AK-47s out of the hands of criminals"...
in his acceptance speech. I very much fear that some version of the AWB is in the works.

15. The more I hear Obama and Biden on guns.......
The less thrilled I am about voting this year. I cannot and will not vote for McCain but on guns, Obama and Biden are beginning to disgust me. Sad, I may end up staying home on election day.
First the came for the Hilleryites...

18. I'm not all that thrilled for MANY reasons, guns being one, but consider this:
If the Democrats win in November, and if Obama wins the presidency, then when (not if) the new assault weapons ban and the "ALL-NEW!" Gun Show Loophole bills are introduced, it will give US -- here in this forum and in other progressive AND RKBA forums -- the chance to go to these prohibitionists and industrial-scale election losers and say: "We helped you get elected. Now, you listen to US, not some sequestered "leaders" -- duly informed by GOP groups like the Bradys -- and self-righteous prohibition addicts. And we say junk the legislation and walk away from the issue."
It will be difficult, because where you find a gun prohibitionist you usually find a *drug prohibitionist; it's part of modern Democratic political culture, it's in the blood. Here is my take on why: since the days of LBJ, Democrats have pretty much jettisoned programmatic policy changes designed to lessen poverty, bad education, poor family life, shrinking job opportunity and persistent discrimination, and further, have chosen to void themselves of policy stances that can be confused with "liberalism" and talk of economic "class." Though they have correctly identified their enemy-conqueror as the GOP far-right, the Democrats have chosen to fight a proxy culture war against white upper-middle class conservatives (re: males) using the most potent symbol they can think of: guns. They see gun-control as some kind of tool they can symbolically wield against the GOP and gain some kind of mythical majority who is as afraid as they are and will vote the GOP out of office.
The entire effort (with regards guns) has failed completely because all the prohibitionists did was to add-on MORE enemies from among less-affluent gun-owners who would not have been disposed to vote GOP had they not run into a wall of sneering, cultural condemnation, even as they saw their own livelihoods deteriorate with little hope of assistance from the once-egalitarian Democrats.
Culture war is a war of hatred; hence, it will be difficult to end. But with wins in November, RKBA folks and many younger voters who both favor stronger Party action and support the Second will, for the first time, be in a serious position to challenge this very old-guard which still controls the Democratic Party, and which still cows down to the GOP on most domestic and all foreign policy matters. Let's not miss the opportunity.
___________
*I didn't discuss drug prohibition, because this is mainly another concession to the GOP far-right, representing as well a proxy war against the central "judicial" rights of the first Ten Amendments. Again, the Democrats are afraid to challenge the far right.
*blink blink*...Steve...you is ONE ****ED UP joe...

5. I'm afraid Joe Biden will not be able to keep his cool when that comes up in a VP debate
Posting it here rather than GD-P so I don't get labelled a "concern troll".
Then they came for the gun owners...

9. Careful,
sometimes they sneak into the Gungeon, but they're easy to spot. They tell interesting stories of how guns are unecessary and that broomhandles are much better suited for chasing off invaders.
Yes, broomhandles.
I think they learned that strategy from Gunguys
Gee...I bet Skammer is just waiting to pounce...

I hope Blowhard Joe brings up another AWB in a debate. It would practically guarentee their losing the 08 election.

I hope like hell he does bring it up.
Not a single crime was prevented by that stupid law. Why?
Criminals don't obey such laws to begin with.

Q: Why do conservatives pour motor oil in their their flower gardens?
A: To protect their 2nd Amendment rights.

Closing the "Gun Show Loophole" is in EXTREME opposition to freedom. .....but then again, they're the modern day Bolsheviks, so what else do we expect?
