Title: Cowardly DUmmies hope for more death and lockdowns to say "told ya so"

I am on my phone... and it's a huge PITA to bring a big thread over..

Suffice it to say the DUmmies are huge cowards..

One says hubby took mask off because "he felt weird wearing it when almost no one else was"

How cowardly is that?
If you want to wear a mask wear one, if you don't then don't...

Don't be a complete twatwaffle and just go with the flow...

Well, that didn't take long. COVID Cases over the last 7 days have increased over the prior 7 days.

After slowly declining (a few percent at a time), then rapidly declining (as much as 33% over the prior week's cases), we went from 33% down a few days ago to about 15% down yesterday, and today we are up .7% over the prior week's cases.

5. Well, the way to prevent it is to stop pretending it's over

until it actually is.

When our county has only 40% vaccinated - and 95% of people aren't wearing masks - it doesn't take a genius to recognize that this is a recipe for disaster.

And they're off....

I've started going maskless this weekend at stores, a few days before the state mandate is supposed to end.  Nobody at home depot or Ralph's market batted an eye, gave me dirty looks or dared to lecture.   It felt really good. It felt normal.

I've forgotten more than once... started to turn back and then said "**** it"
And just went in.. no one batted an eye.

Didn't wear one (unless work person was being a PITA and it was from fakemaskusa.com) not wearing one now. No vaccine either

If there was ever a poster child for “Freedom is too much responsibility. Please gov’t, control every moment of our lives”, then the primitives are it.

Follow the science except when the science disagrees with your belief, is all over that thread, on both sides. LOL

What us DUmmie Ms. Toad croaking about?

From her link, US Weekly Case % Change is -5% and Weekly Death % Change is -1%. If one looks here, https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/country/us/ , US daily deaths have been declining since January 20th.

New cases and deaths have been steadily declining in Texas, https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/usa/texas/ since January 12th, https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/usa/texas/ .

Other than a spring break bump in new cases (but not deaths), new cases and deaths have been declining in Florida since January 7th, https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/usa/florida/ .

When our county has only 40% vaccinated

Those who don't understand statistics and generally don't understand WTH they are croaking about should STHU!

1. As of yesterday morning, 43.1% of the the US population was fully vaccinated. Either DUmmie Ms. Toad posted data that is several days old, or she was less than honest and rounded down to a significant degree to boost her point. Among those not at all vaccinated are children age 0-11, who are not allowed to be vaccinated, a significant percentage (probably 10%-15% of the US population). From https://covid.cdc.gov/covid-data-tracker/#vaccinations , updated more or less daily.

2. 52.2% of the the US population have received at least one vaccine dose. That's 9.1% of the population who have received the first of two Pfizer or Moderna doses. One dose of either is about as effective as the single dose Johnson & Johnson vaccine. So in reality, over half of the population of the US have immunity from vaccination. If DUmmie Ms. Toad had been following news about the vaccines shouldn't have been croaking in ignorance.

3. Similarly, from https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/country/us/ , ~8.5% of the US population is known to have recovered from Covid, and thus have immunity that has been found to be approximately as effective as immunity from a vaccine. While some of us have also gotten vaccinated ( :II: ) many who recovered from Covid either didn't know or didn't bother to get tested. Taking one set as counter-balancing the other set, ~60% of the population of the US have very substantial immunity from Covid, with 10%-15% not allowed to be vaccinated.

4. "Herd Immunity" is not like a switch - none at all until a magic number is reached and then, PRESTO!. Oversimplifying to a small degree, every vaccinated person and every recovered person is an immune person who will neither get Covid nor pass it on. As the population of the immune increase, the population of those who can get Covid and infect others decreases. "Herd immunity" is an undefined hypothetical percentage of the population large enough that the disease has too few susceptible people for an outbreak to occur. In real life, as the population of the immune grow, the population of the susceptible shrinks. Thus, 60% of the US population having immunity from vaccination or recovery means the US is well into herd immunity territory.

I only wear a mask in places that require it (e.g. my place of employment, stores, the gym). I have immunity from recovery and from vaccination, as do ~60% of the US population. Please explain why I and 60% of the US population should wear a mask when not required.

Well, to give the DUmmie the benefit of the doubt, the DUmmie did say "county," not "country."
Title: Re: Cowardly DUmmies hope for more death and lockdowns to say "told ya so"
Post by: SVPete on June 13, 2021, 09:58:10 AM
Because she Ms. Toad linked a Worldometers page that give datas for the whole world and has links to pages for individual countries, I took "county" to be a typo:

Quote
When our county has only 40% vaccinated - and 95% of people aren't wearing masks - it doesn't take a genius to recognize that this is a recipe for disaster.

I guess it's possible she jumped contexts from worldwide or national to her county without making that jump clear. And without linking to her county's Covid data webpage.

&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&

On another note, if DUmmie Ms. Toad actually cares about the vaccination effort in the US, she should ask LIEden and his Keystone Krew:

* Why did LIEden and Kammie question the safety of Covid vaccines in summer and fall 2020? Did they really do it for sordid political gain? Or were they ignorant of the testing the vaccines were undergoing?

* Why did the FDA "pause" usage of the J&J vaccine, for a week, when they already knew the blood clot rate was similar or less than the random rate of such clots in the general population? That bungling not only tanked public acceptance of the J&J vaccine, but it also significantly decreased acceptance of the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines, which use a totally different technology. Brilliant!

* Why does LIEden's Keystone Krew simultaneously urge people to get vaccinated so things can go back to normal while simultaneously advising vaccinated people to keep masking, distancing, and limiting their activities? That isn't "mixed messages", that's contradictory messages!

I read a post that turned into a meme. The post was supposedly from someone in New York who came to Texas for a graduation. In the post the poster is amazed and confused and states something along the lines of “those of us who live in blue bubbles don’t realize that most of America is living life 99% normal.”

This is one of the reasons I posted the question on this board about how many people were actually doing the lockdowns and masks. It never really happened here after about the 3 month mark. We went back to doing what we do.

I posted what I currently do above. An example of the other side of what I do is that when I'm out and about outside of specific location requiring mask, I don't wear, and usually don't even have, a mask. For example, when I do a several mile walk in my neighborhood or a nearby trail, I don't even carry one. Even those who do wear masks in such places should know outdoors is a very very low risk place. And if someone tries to go full mask-Nazi on me, well, I won't placate (quite hypothetical, as I don't even get cross-eyed looks when I'm maskless ... being ~6 feet tall and ~300 pounds may have something to do with that).

And just how many of those supposed deaths due to the WuFlu were people who died from other causes but had tested positive for the WuFlu and had that listed as the cause of death. Here in the Bay Area Contra Costa County admitted that only half of the people reported to have died from the WuFlu actually died from the disease. The rest died from other causes while they had tested positive for the disease.

I wonder how many people were killed by doctors.  A person goes to the ER exhibiting some or all of the symptoms of the WuFlu, get tested for that and that is all they treat. Meanwhile, the person had an underlying illness, exacerbated by the flu which ultimately causes their death, because they are only being treated for the WuFlu.

Is that news I missed? Or were you alluding to the 25% reduction by Alameda County? They dropped off deaths of people by other diseases and also happened to be SARS-CoV-2-positive. What I suspect we’ll never see is differentiated counts of people who died simply due to Covid and those with other chronic diseases who were pushed over the edge by Covid.

There’s that and the people who died of other causes who also happened to have C19. The C19 didn’t end their life, the heart disease did, but cause of death is listed as C19. These hospitals were getting money for every C19 death.

I know someone who’s mother died that had been in bad health and in and out of the hospital for years. She had C19 when she died, but that’s not what finally ended her life. The hospital called and asked her if they could list her mother’s cause of death as C19. She told them “No!”, but who would do that? Someone who could get money if they could list that as the cause, that’s who.

24. I was heading in to work

I typically find it easier to wear items of clothing than carry them, so I put my mask on as I hopped out of the car to walk across the street from the parking deck into the building. I crossed the street while a couple of yahoos in a pick-up truck were waiting for me to clear the crosswalk so they could turn the corner. Something told me they weren't the friendliest sort - and sure enough, as they peeled around the corner the passenger yelled out the window at me, "Take off your mask!"

I have to admit finding this hard to believe. My county, Santa Clara County, voted HilLIARy and LIEden ~75% to Trump's ~25%, yet very few people I see walking about my neighborhood wear masks. Nor walkers, runners, and cyclists I meet on the trail near my home.

I realize you were probably being scarcastic, but of the G7 countries, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the United Kingdom and the United States, probably only Japan has a vaccination rate low enough to have a risk of the surge from which they are almost recovered turning into a double surge. I think the EU and Canuckia finally got their vax act together.
