ANY economic growth is evidence we are NOT in a recession.

Does anyone actually believe any of the conversations these DUers say they have? I don't! this clerk at Kohl's must be a nut case to talk about the company being in recession to a customer.

I don't use the b**** word or the c*** word, but greenbriar tries my mettle.

Leave it to her to accept the word from a department store cashier that the United States is in a depression. They learn to analyze massive amounts of data to form valid opinions right after they learn where the break room is and how to clock in, I guess.

By the way, here is the DU definition of "recession:" If there is any person who is unemployed, or who is having a difficult time making ends meet, or if any price increases over any period of time, then the United States is said to be in a recession.

By the DU metric, of course, we have always been in a recession, but DUmmies get the same happiness from a Democrat in the White House as they do from getting a paycheck.

The DUmmies have a tendancy to make shit up.

Funny, our Kohl's, on Washington Road, in Evans....a VERY Conservative area, is BOOMING.

Maybe you f'n DUmmies need to stop being so damned cheap. Conservative areas are kicking ass right now.

hubby had to buy a new suit for a promotion...
You will recall from her earlier posts that DUmmy greenbriar's husband is a violent alcoholic wifebeater. Although that is understandable given his domestic situation, it may also be untrue, since DUmmy greenbriar was using her supposed mistreatment as justification for her efforts (most likely unsuccessful) to get laid by some cruise ship pool boy. Of course, over time, DUmmy greenbriar has also shown herself to be a habitual liar. At any rate, she has made Mr. DUmmy greenbriar out to be a most despicable person, and in the photos she has posted he looks the part. Seems unlikely such a chap would be moving up in some organization's heirarchy to a point where his responsibilities would now require a suit. (To me, he's more likely a skilled tradesman, or one of those guys who wheels cases of soft drinks into the Quik-E-Mart.) But, if true, of course, a single sub-$300 suit from Kohl's would hardly fill the bill. A single sub-$300 suit from Kohl's, worn five days per week, four weeks per month, would not normally be considered the best way to "dress for success".

I think it's pretty clear this story is pure bouncy. For Mr. DUmmy greenbriar's sake, I sure hope it is.

I think the trip to Kohl's might be true, and she has thus betrayed her past scrawlings that her husband is a big wheeler-dealer. I am not one to belittle someone because they don't wear custom-tailored Zegna suits, and I think Kohl's is a fine place to buy clothes, but my earlier sense was that her husband was some sort of King Turd somewhere.

Perhaps, however, this suit purchase means that (a) he will beat her less often, and (b) he will no longer require a hair net when he goes to work.

What really happened:

"May I help you?"

"My husband needs a suit. In spite of this horrible Bush economy we're getting a promotion! I'm voting for Obama...just thought I'd tell you since I noticed you're black and wanted you to know I'm down with the struggle!"

"I appreciate that ma'am but my family is from Brazil. Besides, this is woman's lingerie, men's suits are up the elevator and to the right."

"I'm voting for Obama...did you hear his speech? I bet you're voting for him too since you've got dark skin, too! I'm a school teacher. I make sure my students know multiculturalism is very important, that global warming sucks, and white people are destroying the planet, except Al Gore and Ed Begley Jr."

(A male voice is heard mumbling in the background..."Jesus, here we go again...I need a drink.")

"Well good for you ma'am, being a teacher must be very rewarding, would you like me to escort you up the elevator and show you where the men's suit department is?"

"Oh, NO! Please don't trouble yourself...being a minority, I'm sure you work harder than anyone else in the store, which is why I ONLY vote for affirmative action candidates. Did I tell you I'm voting for Obama...bet you are too, right?"

"Actually, I don't usually discuss politics at work, but this is my first election since becoming a citizen and I'm studying each candidate as thoroughly as I can. We are having a great sale on men's suits right now. Would you like me to escort you to the men's department?"

"I KNEW it...you're a Rove plant!!! How can you betray your people like that?"

"What people? You mean the other women in the lingerie department? I'm the department manager, I'm pretty sure they'll be okay with me escorting you to the men's department."

"No thank you!!! WE won't buy a suit from a fascist pig company that supports McCain!

(Man's voice in the background...Geez...I need a drink and a divorce...not necessarily in that order).

Now really..what was the point in adding that little tidbit over simply saying you paid the bill.
Same as telling everyone a couple of weeks ago that you make 57,000 + dollars at a job which you admit you played hookey at so you could play on political blogs.
Hope the taxpayes will be happy that their school budget has to include funds for that.
A dedicated public servent you are not and wonder how long before your fellow crazys will get sick of you pointing out your huge rings, cruises and expensive suits bought and paid for by your "alcoholic" husband.

Ine way to tell if someone is lying or not is to listen carefully to everything they say, how they say it, and when they say it. Someone is said to be ADDING DETAIL when they are lying as an unconscious way of convincing themselves that something is true. When you are telling a true story, you are less concerned with details and more concerned with conveying what actually happened. When you are lying, your story is uniformly detailed from beginning to end, and oftentimes a liar will add detail at the end of the story.

Which, of course, the idiot greenbriar does. I wonder which hand her husband drinks with, and if he has become proficient at beating her with the other. Does he reserve his dominant hand for the important task of slapping her around, while his drink is in the other hand, or can he apply a good beatdown with either hand? I wish she'd tall a bouncy about that.

Does anyone actually believe any of the conversations these DUers say they have? I don't! this clerk at Kohl's must be a nut case to talk about the company being in recession to a customer.

I think there used to be a Kohl's here and it went out of business. I never saw the inside of that store, but I assume it was like a Mervyn's or a Dillard's? Maybe the clothes they sell in that store arent all that popular? I have no idea..

But isnt anyone at DU getting tired of greenbriar's bragging about her vacations, how much money she makes, her husband's promotion and their ability to spend 300 dollars on a suit in a crappy store? PLUS, she ditched her teaching job to stay up all night blogging??

I seriously hope we find out what school this idiot works at.. her posts are worth a look by the public who pays her salary.

Kohls rocks in my opinion. Ours is ALWAYS busy.

greedy thorn primitive's post just kind of proves my point about her desire to brag about their financial situation.

And Cindie's version is MUCH better!

Given that was the first and last sentance of the screed I would say it is a good chance the real and only reason she posted it.
The other stuff was just needed for a filler and to get the normal pat on the back in DUmmyland.

I would never deride anyone's choice of shopping venue, or the clothes they choose to wear. That said, when people like greenbriar try to make more of something than it is for their own aggrandizement, I will always step in and keep it real.

Kohl's is like a larger version of Mervyn's. As regards menswear, it is a step below a place like Dillard's, wherein there is a better selection and you can have your suit tailored.

Greenbriar is walking a tightrope when she lies: she has to make the details populist enough to appeal to DU, but the store has to be exclusive enough to remind them that she lives in a six-figure household.

Ironically, she's not even within shouting distance of being the wealthiest DUer. Anyone who wants an example of a DUmmy in really high cotton should PM me.

^True. Actually picking that store does an excellent job of walking that line. It's known for having deep discounts and decent merchandise (if you know what you're looking at) and dropping $300 in there means you bought a lot. Even in the men's dress clothes dept. I know because we bought clothing there a few weeks ago for a male family member.

I love Kohls for my jeans--I only wear Levi's 501's and they 1--always have my size, 2--have them on sale often enough that I don't have to pay the normal $50 a pair for them.

speaking of Kohls levis for guys....mini rant warning :-)

We have been buying hubby's 501's there for years and the quality stinks. I know it's not Kohls - it's Levi Strauss. At least I think it is. The material is cheaper and they fall apart faster than before. We're replacing them more often than I think we should. They are not the Levis you could buy 15+ years ago. Unless Levi makes better quality ones and sells them in other stores. I dunno.......we're seriously thinking about switching to something else. My brother switched to another brand.

Note that Kohl's, due to the connection with Herb Kohl, is a reliable pandering strategy for DUmmies. Clothing must come from Kohl's. Food must come from the farmer next door. Everything else must come from Target or Costco. All other business entities, without exception, are evil.

Just because I found it interesting, since greenbriar lives in Wichita, I believe.

The Wichita Eagle (http://www.kansas.com/508/story/501546.html)

Kohl's reported last week that its second-quarter profit fell more than 12 percent as same-store sales dipped amid a challenging economic environment.

Overall sales rose 3.8 percent, but same-store sales - a key figure in retailing that measures sales at stores open at least a year - dropped 4.6 percent.

Not bad, for this horrible * economy.  Somehow, I have serious doubts that the cashiers have noticed the difference.
