Title: Would Gustav Hinder the Republican Convention?
Post by: Hawkgirl on August 29, 2008, 05:56:45 PM
Just thinking out loud.  I'm not sure how good it would be perceived to see John McCain and George Bush partying at the convention, while Gustav hits the southern coastline and perhaps even damage the oil rigs.
I think the convention should be moved up at least a day if the hurricane hits on Monday.  It would be a better display of leadership imo.
Opinions?

I heard somewhere that if it does hit around Monday, they might postpone it (a week at most).

The Convention president says it's going to happen on schedule.

Oh ok. I didn't think much of it since it was just a rumor.

The MSM would love nothing more than to see the RNC coverage spoiled by this hurricane. They are praying for a direct hit of New Orleans for that reason alone. I'd bet on that.

I would love to see the RNC organizers burst their bubble by postponing it. I know a lot has gone into putting it together, but it won't be worth much if nobody is paying attention to it due to Gustav.
