Biden White House Sandbags Staffers, Sidelines Dozens for Pot Use
In some cases, staffers were informally told by transition officials some past marijuana use would be overlooked, only to be told later that they were being asked to resign.

Dozens of young White House staffers have been suspended, asked to resign or placed in a remote work program due to past marijuana use, frustrating staffers who were pleased by initial indications from the Biden administration that recreational use of cannabis would not be immediately disqualifying for would-be personnel, according to three people familiar with the situation.
The policy has even affected staffers whose marijuana use was exclusive to one of the 14 states—and the District of Columbia—where cannabis is legal. Sources familiar with the matter also said a number of young staffers were either put on probation or canned because they revealed they had used marijuana in the past in an official document they filled out for the position in the Biden White House during a lengthy background check.
In some cases, staffers were informally told by transition higher-ups ahead of formally joining the administration that they would likely overlook some past marijuana use, only to be asked later to resign.
“There were one-on-one calls with individual affected staffers—rather, ex-staffers,” one former White House staffer affected by the policy told The Daily Beast. “I was asked to resign.”
“Nothing was ever explained” on the calls, they added, which were led by White House director of management and administration Anne Filipic. “The policies were never explained, the threshold for what was excusable and what was inexcusable was never explained.”

Whoopsie, looks like Joe brought a bunch of druggies on board who couldn't pass a piss test. I'm gonna guess that those that were terminated had some rather nasty drugs in their system, while the rest are just counting the days until they can provide a clean sample.
No doubt, this will cause a huge uproar on the Democrat side of the aisle.

Wrong. Using pot is still a federal crime in those states.

Liberals tend to learn the hard way.

This^. I would lose my clearance and career if I did MJ and yes they still test piss, hair and fat cells to check for various drugs periodically.

I would be fired immediately and without apology. I get tested 8-10 times per year. I’ve had 3 hair follicle tests in the last 4 months.

Many industries still require drug testing even if the state has "legalized" it.
When Illinois legalized it, they said the state police would not be going after people that used it and owned guns.
However, there have been a couple of people who failed their background check to purchase guns, because they had a medical marijuana card. Here in Illinois, they scan your driver's license/ID if you buy pot. Yeah, I like my guns and I have never smoked pot.

Yup, that’s the view here.
And no other ‘controlled substances.’

When MJ legalization efforts first started to gain traction the federal government was sending out letters and emails, almost monthly, to every federal employee, military member and subcontractor that, regardless of the individual state laws, it was still illegal at the federal level. Individuals with CDL's got similar notifications. I don't personally know anyone who got fired for MJ usage, but I'm sure there are some out there. The federal government's position on the matter was made crystal clear and hasn't changed.

I know several who’ve been fired for drug use, including pot. We even had to fire a couple who bought and used CBD that wasn’t supposed to have any THC, but they pissed hot. They had to pay a couple thousand bucks and attend classes to get removed from the DISA system so they could return to work.

When I hired on at L3 I had to do a urine test, and was informed that the company could randomly require me to be tested at any time. In 7 1/2 years I never got tested again. The division was old-school, pre-silicon Silicon Valley. There were a good number of people there who had been with the company/division for 30-50 years.
