I stayed for the same reasons. But, when the in-your-face bias became unbearable ( I.E. Trump years) I decided I couldn't be a part of FB any longer.  I just stopped. It's been 3 years since I participated. My account is still there because I've heard they make it damn near impossible to kill. And, I'm no techie and have little patience for a simple process being made purposely difficult. I share conventional email with the friends that really matter.
