Figures Show Newsroom Jobs Took Massive Hit During Pandemic

The coronavirus pandemic helped decimate already declining U.S. media jobs in digital, print, and broadcast newsrooms, according to new data.
According to the figures provided by Challenger, Gray & Christmas, Inc. and posted by Axios, 16,000 newsroom jobs were lost in 2020 — higher than the last peak in 2008, when 15,000 newsroom jobs disappeared.
The data showed 14,000 “other media jobs” were lost this year as well, a category that includes jobs in television/film/streaming production, advertising, and book publishing. Those categories got whacked in 2008 as well, shedding nearly 15,000 jobs.
The bleeding has been relentless over the past 12 years, decreasing but never stopping from 2010 to 2015, the data showed.
The news media has taken a hit since 2008. The pandemic has made it worse.
And a Pew Research Center report last month on the financial state of the news media in the second quarter of 2020 found ad revenue at six newspaper chains — which accounted for more than 300 newspapers — fell 42% compared compared with the second quarter of 2019.
“By contrast, total ad revenue across the three major cable news networks was steady overall, but there were sharp differences between the networks: While ad revenue for MSNBC and CNN declined by double digits, Fox News Channel’s revenue rose by 41%,” the study found.
At five local TV news companies, with more than 600 individual stations, revenue was also down, but retransmission fees covered the losses, the study found.
Bias likely plays a role, especially leftist bias.

Meh. **** those people.
(I'm applying a loose definition of "people.")

With any kind of luck, FNC's ad revenue will reverse itself from its 41% gain to Toilet Territory along with the Communist News Network and MSNBC, the other communist news network.
FNC - a network I abandoned a long time ago - is intent on floating with the the rest of the turds.

I haven't sat down to watch a news broadcast in over 5 years but I spent a few days with my ageing mom who has early stages of dementia over thanksgiving and all she does is watch nonstop news from the local ABC affiliate all day.
I was about to lose my mind after just one hour of hearing the panic porn about covid and how President Trump's "baseless" claims of election fraud are bordering on criminal. And the cycle repeats itself every half hour. I saw no objectivity in what was being presented to the viewers and can see how misinformed and one sided people can get if they rely on broadcast news for their information.
I don't see any downside to newsroom jobs taking a hit.

The best part about this is (if there is such as thing) is that the Leftist Producing Universities (LPUs) that have so-called "journalism" schools - like Mizzou, for example - will be producing shitbird leftists that can't find a gig. So they'll go running and crying to Mommy to pay their exorbitant tuition bills and otherwise throw up their hands and scream they can't find a job.
Meanwhile, we need a shit-ton of plumbers to install toilets. Some of those gigs will be filled by these leftist journalist wannabes -- if they're smart.

They put themselves into that position. They have themselves to blame solely.

That's all very nice and good that certain hostile parasitical elements are being shoved out of the labor market, but there's still a lot of sludge that needs removed, starting with Jim Acosta of CNN.

That's good, and there are plenty more to add to that list. Christiane Amanpour, the journalist wannabe (Tucker's expose on her was epic); Brian "Tater" Stelter; Don "Packin' Fudge" Lemon; Chris "Fredo" Cuomo; Jake "Gushes" Tapper; Brian "I Was There" Williams and many more.

For Stetler, I like the term "Uncle Fester".

The more pain the DNC propagandists suffer the better everyone else will be.
