Was informed one of my co-workers died today
Advertisements [?]Our store manager called us all to a meeting suddenly today to inform us that one of our employees died suddenly yesterday of a heart problem.
I was her direct supervisor. I remember her speaking to me two weeks ago about the health care plans. She got this job so that she could get health insurance. (which all regular employees are eligible for after six months with a certain number of hour being worked) I went over the options for her, and told her how she could go about getting the benefits paper. I remember her telling me that she was going to sign up ASAP because she hadn't been feeling well and couldn't wait to go to the doctor.
She would have been eligible to sign up this week. I can't help but wonder if she would still be here if she would have been able to have health care earlier.

Actually, TwixVoy, you are guilty of manslaughter for implying that she would have to wait for care. She could have gone to the ER at ANY time, even if she couldn't pay.
Of course, we have to blame the CiC:

People die. Not just some people. Not just poor people. Not just rich country club elitists. But everybody dies. And most people die of something.
Having excellent health care doesn't mean one wont die. Having no health care doesn't mean one will die prematurely.
Since everybody dies it seems to me the best thing to do is to try to take the sting out of of it somewhat by coming to terms with death.
Fear of death makes the whole health care debate spiral out of all proportion.
While I can't quite, at this point, not feel sad if someone I love dies, I can overcome, somewhat, my own fear of my own death and so take some of my own power back.
I've been trying to get in to see a doctor with my Canadian-style HMO system and so I have been thinking about this stuff a lot lately. I kind of think MSA's are the way to go where I have the most power in my own health care instead of some cowardly, faceless CEO of a HMO who thinks they know what my needs are but never returns my calls.

And did you know that ALL people die of cardiac arrest?
We need red ribbons and walk-a-thins and stuff.
As a point of reference:
Cardiac=Heart-related
Arrest=stop
thus Cardiac Arrest=Heart Stopped

Even people who have their hearts ripped out in Aztec heart-ripping-out ceremonies to feed the gods and keep them from ending time? Or what about people executed by the Guillotine? Honestly, I don't know but if Red Eye where on this week Greg might ask Master Baden for us.

Hence, why I tell people not to fear death. I will miss people when they die. I will be missed when I die. However, since everyone will face death and what ever comes after, why fear it.

My kids and I went without health insurance for close to 6 years. I have NO IDEA how we managed to survive!!!!!!!!!!11!!11!!!11111 ::)
Oh, yeah, I remember. If someone didn't feel good, I took them to the doctor...and then I paid him. Sometimes for months and months. Just like I do now, when we have to pay our deductible first.
Morons. :thatsright:
