No real information on the suspect, but reported they were armed and on White House grounds...

A shooting outside the White House on Monday briefly overtook President Trump's daily news conference, leading Secret Service to call the president away from the briefing room lectern.
At 5:51 p.m., just a few minutes into Trump's press briefing, a Secret Service agent told the president he needed to leave the room, and the doors to the briefing room were locked with members of the media inside.
Minutes later, Trump returned to the podium to inform reporters that the Secret Service had shot someone outside the White House, and the person was being transported to the hospital in an unknown condition.
The Secret Service later confirmed the shooting:
The Secret Service can confirm there has been an officer involved shooting at 17th Street and Pennsylvania Ave. Law enforcement officials are on the scene. More information to follow.
Trump said it was his understanding that the person was armed, but that it was still unclear what led to the shooting or whether it was in any way related to the president. He said the Secret Service planned to hold a briefing about it.
When asked whether the shooting had "rattled" him, Trump responded casually: "I don't know. Do I seem rattled?"
"The world's always been a dangerous place. It's not something that's unique. You look back over the centuries, the world has been a dangerous place, very dangerous place, and it will continue, I guess, for a period of time."
D.C. Fire and Emergency Medical Services spokesman Doug Buchanan confirmed that the Secret Service had called requesting assistance "for a patient with a gunshot wound" at around 5:55 p.m.
The adult male was treated at the scene for critical, life-threatening injuries, Buchanan said, and transported to a nearby hospital.

A senior administration official confirmed to CNN's Dana Bash that there was active shooter and the shooter is in custody.
The incident happened at the corner of 17th and Pennsylvania Avenue NW, just outside of the White House grounds close to Lafayette park.

...but, still, when the Secret Service tells you to take cover, you do so. Had he refused, they would have grabbed him and hustled him off to safety -- and that would not have been a very flattering visual on live television.

says the DUmmy who is supporting a guy for President who has been hiding in his basement for months
I'm actually surprised how quick President Trump was back at the podium. I would guess that the Secret Service would want to fully understand what took place and if there was still a threat existing before letting the President back into the public.
I'm wondering if the President told the SS Agents that they shot their man, now let him go back to his meeting, but that's just speculation on my part.

Shortly before 6 p.m., a law enforcement official said, Myron Berryman of District Heights, Maryland, approached a uniformed Secret Service officer standing at his post about a block from the White House grounds and told the officer that he had a weapon and intended to use it.
"The suspect then turned around, ran aggressively towards the officer, and in a drawing motion, withdrew an object from his clothing," the Secret Service said in an earlier statement. "He then crouched into a shooter’s stance as if about to fire a weapon."
Berryman was shot twice in the torso, according to the law enforcement official who was not authorized to comment publicly. No firearm was found on Berryman, who was listed in stable condition Tuesday. The official did not identify the item that Berryman pulled from his clothing.
Sounds like a failed suicide-by-cop.
