Title: Roadtrip pics
Post by: DarkHalo on August 26, 2008, 10:12:43 PM
Went to Lake Havasu on the Colorado River with a friend last weekend. She has a place and a boat there for weeekend getaways. What a blast I had.

This is when we first started across the lake.

This is a bit further out on the lake.

Where we were actually going to was a place caleld the sandbars but water levels are like 4 ft lower than normal and we couldnt get there. As it was she broke the prop on her boat when we hit some rocks.

This is the actual London Bridge that was disassembled in England then moved to Havasu and reassembled years ago.

Another pic of the London Bridge

This is my friend. We actually work together and heres a shocker for people...shes almost my age....This is at Steamboat Springs, a bit further down the lake. Often you can see wild bighorn sheep on the hills.

I could stay there forever.

This was heading back to shore.

Beautiful sunset as we were loading her boat back on the trailer.

Theres a lot more pics but ummm I cant really share a bunch of them, lol. It was about 300 miles and 4 hrs each way and I enjoyed every mile of it in the new car.

We lived in Lake Havasu City before we moved to Dallas.  My husband was a boat designer for a custom boat builder there.  My middle child was born there.  It it hotter than hell and was too touristy for me.  Our front and back yard were ROCKS, no green anywhere.  It would piss me off during spring break when it would take an hour just to get a "quick" bite to eat at Jack In The Box or where ever because so many people descended on this tiny town for vacation (especially the drunken teens, they really pissed me off). When I lived there it was HUGE that it had a Wal-Mart, and it wasn't even a super Wal-Mart...there was NOTHING else there.

As I drove into town it said the population was 575. At times I saw that many people between me and the next stop light. Yeah, it is swamped by tourists. Springbreak is crazy every year. This weekend will be insane. Paula says shes not even considering going there.

Rocks and gravel for yards? Yup. Hey check out that sweet looking Mercedes roadster....

I drove past a Lowes and a Home Depot on the way in. Theres new stuff going up everywhere. Oh and regular gas was $3.19 p/gallon at 2 places I saw in town. It took 3/4 tanks to get back so I am still running on Arizona gas back here in Ca. No doubt that is pissing of AlBore no end. Hey BEG good to see you.  :-*

Yeah, just got it a few weeks ago. This was my first real road trip in it. I had been shopping for a Cadillac CTS for months when I stumbled on this beauty.

My last car was a corvette and the cadillac CTS-V has a vette engine in it. Best of both worlds I thought. But high gas prices are making most high end sport and luxo cars very reasonable. I got the SLK for the same price I was planning on for the caddie. And I can honestly say the cadillac isnt even close in quality and construction to the mercedes. And yeah, tickets are a real possibility. It handles as well as my corvette does (my sons corvette now) and is faster. It has a governor that kicks in at 155 mph. Plus the top electrically retracts into the trunk. Thats just plain uber kewl, lol.
