**** Steve Schmidt
Yes, he's eloquent and he's doing his best to bring Trump down. But Schmidt, and many like him, made Trump possible.

Schmidt was on Dick Cheney's staff and helped Bush/Cheney come to power. Where was his conscience when Bush/Cheney "won" through a stolen election? Where was his eloquence when we were lied into Iraq? Where was his outrage when Bush/Cheney let New Orleans drown?

Then he worked on John McCain's campaign and was a major force responsible for making Sarah Palin McCain's running mate. Mindless, utter stupidity didn't seem to bother him then.

And even today, he speaks fondly of "Saint" Ronald Reagan, a man who was an amiable imbecile who was almost as dumb as Trump, and was too dense or demented to understand he was surrounded by criminals who were using him.

Put plainly, Schmidt helped make the Republican Party the sadistic thugs they are today, and he helped lay the groundwork for the election of Donald Trump.

Now, seeing where his career helped bring us, he's outraged and shocked. Shocked I tell you. How could anyone not see, decades ago, where the Republican Party was headed? Especially someone like Scmidt who is damn smart. I guess we're now supposed to thank him for bringing his eloquent voice to bear in opposition to Trump.

But he doesn't get to escape the fact that he, and many anti-Trumpers like him, contributed to making Trump's reign of terror possible.

Schmidt was the senior campaign strategist and advisor to the 2008 presidential campaign of Senator John McCain. He's a huge Never-Trumper...

On June 19, 2018, Schmidt formally withdrew from the GOP over Donald Trump's policy of separating immigrant families at the U.S. border with Mexico. Its funny he never complained when O'barry was doing it...

On January 28, 2019, it was reported that Schmidt, along with Democratic consultant Bill Burton, had been hired to help shape a potential presidential run by former Starbucks CEO Howard Schultz. With Schultz deciding to withdraw, Schmidt returned to MSNBC.

He serves as an advisor to The Lincoln Project, a Super PAC organized by current and former Republican operatives opposed to the re-election of Donald Trump in 2020.

Yeah... **** this dickhole.

64. This is our chance to "use them back."

We don't have to fall in love with Schmidt or Rick Wilson. We can let them continue outsmarting the trumpsters, and boost their memes whenever possible, but saving our finances for our candidates and policies.

2. The Never Trumpers will be the first to attack a Democratic administration

and try to regain power for their party.

They will be treated as "impartial"/"nonpartisan" by the media and given outsized importance.

Just watch

4. **** this

When you're in a war for democracy you take all the allies you can get. Save the sackcloth and ashes for the historians. I want drumpf out of office and gladly welcome any help that Schmidt and Wilson and Kristol can give, regardless of their past.

48. We've been in a fight for democracy since the 80s and clowns like Schmidt are the enemy.

Remember, he and Kristol tried to stick us with Palin. That’s their brand.

78. We can accept their help in defeating Trump, but we should never trust them.

When the election is settled, and Democrats have won the Presidency, the House, and the Senate, then we need to ignore their ideas, shut down their plans, and allow them to sink into oblivion.

People who have been so brutally wrong, for so very long, do not deserve any more chances.

I would like to add to the list of ignorables, the crew of Morning Joe. They gave Trump incredible amounts of air time to slander President Obama and sell himself. He was as vicious, narcissistic, and ignorant then as he is now. They must have known, but ratings via controversy was always more important to them than truth.

16. Finally. So sick of Schmidt loving.

He said awful things about Hillary
Was all George Bush and Sarah Palin
Toed the Liberal hating line.
Went to campaign for some billionaire
Now wants back in the light.

Screw that ass. Has he endorsed Biden?

29. If the Democratic message machine wasn't so pathetic, I might agree with the OP.

Unfortunately, it is wet noodles compared to Steve Schmidt’s scathing, ruthless eviscerations of the orange pig. With so much at stake, we can’t afford to collapse onto our fainting couches over the foul stench wafting up from never-Trumpers’ manure-caked boots.

46. I don't trust any of them..

in their nauseatingly we-told-you-so self-righteosness they conveniently forget their GOP, you know the guys who hate all non-whites, non-christians, the poor.. the party of misogynistic, anti-abortion, anti-healthcare, anti social security fellow compatriots...the GOP they've supported and worked for all of their adult lives..the never trumpers are "finished" with the GOP for now but the second they no longer get network face time they'll go back into the fold

49. he may get the blame but it was part of a russian operation

he may even think he was responsible. he was involved in trying to get the idiot prepared etc but remember manafort was mccain's campaign cochair and he was working for russians then

schmidt was not more important in that decision than manafort, altho manafort may have allowed him to think that

and they were starting to use limbaugh too. limbaugh would not support mccaain until mccain chose palin that was timed to minutes befor ethe friday limbaugh show the friday before the republlican convention. limbaugh used the show to support mcccain and praise palin as the savior, and so the convention was 'saved'. withtout limbaugh it woulld have been a disaster

and palin had been wooed by russssian oil and gas!/putin

that was also a little after breitbart/kremllin horned in on drudge/MIC as major feeder of talk radio
