aargghhhhhh! just got home from the supermarket [RANT]
in the los angeles area. At a large Ralphs (Kroger) supermarket. EVERYBODY... 99.99% of people were wearing masks.

But this one jerk. not only was he not wearing a mask -- he was YAPPING AWAY ON HIS PHONE spreading his germs all over the place.

WHAT PART OF THIS DO PEOPLE NOT UNDERSTAND?

I would've yelled at him but I didn't because I would've looked like a damn madwoman. So I came here to vent.

thank you.

7. A Fine Rant

Yesterday, I made my rare trip to the local grocery store (not a chain) where, like your experience, 99% of the people were masked and respectful. As I closed in on the check out section which is clearly marked with tape on the floor, two unmasked women squealed to see each other, hugged, and proceeded to have a long and lively conversation - taking up nearly the entire section where we line up to check out. I finally had enough and asked them to MOVE! We have very few cases in my county in Southern Oregon, so maybe people don't think it's a problem. I'm 67 and being very cautious.

Ditto your remark: WHAT PART OF THIS DO PEOPLE NOT UNDERSTAND?

8. Oh! I hear you. Yesterday I was stuck behind some guy in a long single file

line to exit the store because they set up all those barriers that you can’t get around. So he’s engrossed in his phone, looking down, starting and stopping walking, just oblivious that the line forming behind him had to start and stop with him just so he could check his phone. Get in your car and check your phone, dammit.

12. I hear you! I went to

shop Sunday at my natural food store in another town.. and I saw a friend going in the store without a mask, as I was outside packing up my groceries outside.

I got mad.. she said "hi".. and I'm sure she could tell by my abrupt attitude. Didn't have time to say anything else as I had to catch a bus.

Everybody in the store had on Masks!

Wearing a mask shows you're conscientious and you care about not infecting other people. And, it's a reminder that there's a silent deadly invisible CV out there.

16. My wife came across a woman who was picking up every package of hamburger meat at Walmart.

"I think you missed touching that one," she commented. Needless to say, she got a snarky look from the woman.

21. You're lucky.

I went to the store yesterday (finally able to get oats!) and I was wondering if the virus was over and I hadn't gotten the memo. Only a couple people including myself were wearing masks, and most people were not really social distancing.

26. He was doing nothing illegal.

You might not have liked it, but it was not actionable.

In addition, you don't know if he had a light case and has recovered or if he was clueless about the whole thing.

Some people will be out there unmasked. A few of them might spread the virus. You don't have to like it but that's just how it is. Protect yourself as best you can and go with the statistics on this thing.

You do get to describe his ancestry, anatomy, proclivities, IQ deficiency, and ultimate destination. It was just unwise to do that to his face because he was breaking no laws and you know nothing about his status, including if he's been tested recently and has been negative in a job that requires testing.

28. Possible misdemeanor in my state.

2005 Connecticut Code - Sec. 53a-63. Reckless endangerment in the first degree: Class A misdemeanor. (a) A person is guilty of reckless endangerment in the first degree when, with extreme indifference to human life, he recklessly engages in conduct which creates a risk of serious physical injury to another person.

(b) Reckless endangerment in the first degree is a class A misdemeanor.

POSSIBLE.... reckless endangerment means they knew that there actions could cause SERIOUS PHYSICAL INJURY...

Good luck proving that in a court of law, DUmpmonkie.

32. With some of the conditions I cited, that would be tough to prove.

and I sincerely doubt the cops would bother.

All states have reckless endangerment statutes but they're generally restricted to "Bubba, hold my beer and watch this" situations that endanger more than the speaker.

29. Consider yourself fortunate

Went shopping in CA & AZ on the same day earlier this week, so was able to compare:

--in CA: everyone wearing masks, observing social distancing.

--in SW AZ, deep red maggot central: ~1/3 wearing masks. Except for the mask wearers, business as usual. Most store employees not wearing masks. Went to a restaurant to pick up an order--none of the employees was wearing a mask. Last time I'm going there.

I'm going to make a point of shopping in CA from now on.

 :whatever:

CA infection numbers: 35,350ish
AZ infection numbers: 5,540ish

34. "I bet you're a Limbaugh guy, aren't you?"

That was my planned response to one jerk in Trader Joe's who argued/yelled with their employee who told him it was a state law to have a mask.

Just pissed me off....

36. My personal favorite...

There was a guy in produce at our local store, with a mask, but it wasn't covering his mouth and nose, it was just dangling around his neck. He was taking his sweet time, too, as he looked over the offerings.

I figured he promised someone to "wear a mask" and this was his was of technically saying he did...

37. Someone should have called police

It is illegal in CA to be outside without a mask. I think.

... it's not.

I must point out that wearing a surgical mask is an act of hostility towards the deaf and hard of hearing.

Even manuals for multi-thousand-dollar hearing aids, usually on the first page, state that the instrument does not, and cannot, replace real hearing.....and that when communicating with a person wearing one, one should face the person and leave the mouth uncovered so that one's lips may be "read."

Four years ago, after I had heart surgery, and then for the next few years, I had to undergo all sorts of tests that required medical personnel to wear masks.  And then three times while in chemotherapy, my white-blood-cell count collapsed down to near zero, and so I had to be handled very gingerly by masked phantoms.

My being deaf caused all sorts of problems when I was undergoing something demanding communication.

I really despise this mask-wearing phenomenon.  Of course nothing can be done about it, but I think some people, especially the insensitive types such as primitives, need to be aware this is a problem for some people.

Primitives hate it when people aren’t obedient the way they want them to be.

Get over it, primitives! No one cares if you like it or not.

I am in So Cal and do not wear a useless virture signalling mask.  I would have told this DUchebag Karen "**** OF ****!"

I doubt she would have shit else.  I'm pissed enough at these Karens to start some physical violence.  I'm pretty sure the Karens know it and don't confront me.

The term for it is mask-shaming.  It's all the rage with woke Karens these days.

Would these busy bodies be happier if the maskless offender was wearing a red Trump 2020 mask?

My latest entertainment has been to drift within a few feet of these weirdos and just give a little cough.  I expect as my state decides to stop playing pretend dictatorship in the next few days, I will have many more opportunities.

Here in Ohio my Catholic school is seriously discussing wearing masks in the classroom in August!

I may retire: I am 70 anyway.  Just ridiculous!!!

Kinda kicking around the idea of a bandana when my job requires me to wear one. A black hat will complete the effect. I wanna be a cowboy!

:agree:
I was told masks should be reserved for medical or essential workers.

I practice social distancing when shopping and also go early in the morning to avoid crowded stores. For the most part I was doing this already before corona because I hate being stuck in checkout lines.

The CDC said home made masks are basically worthless at providing protection.
The CDC says home made masks should be worn when social distancing is impractical.
Illinois Governor Pritzker (D-Obese), will be making them mandatory starting next week.
