Just Stop It - The 1% Can Give A Little Back And Take Care Of The Whole Country For A Year
No one should be risking their lives in unsafe workplaces to simply survive.
The 1% still has 50 trillion in wealth, and I haven't heard of any billionaires dying from "the vid".
They are holed up in their palaces/mansions/castles safe as can be. The folks who are going to starve if they don't go out are the ones dying.
If you have to work, it should be in a place where you have little chance of being infected. That goes for all workers from hospitals to 7-11's, and Uber Eats drivers. Sanitation workers, to construction workers. Pork producers to strawberry pickers. Every worker should be safe, or at home safe. Period.
It is the poor who are dying because THEY HAVE TO GO OUT AND RISK THEIR LIVES to survive.
My point is we can borrow another few trillion, and tax wealth to pay it back and make sure every single American / person in this country can stay safe until they get a pill that works to kill this virus, or a plan where people stop dying by the thousands.
The poor don't need to die just because they live in a system where all the benefits go to the top. Time the top trickled something down.
It's Time. It's really time.

What really intrigued me about this.... is that Hoyt of all people, sees that you will eventually run out of Other People's Money

4. Question -- Since the top 1% pay 39% of US fed income taxes now, who is going to pay after
they have everything taken? Plus, the moment those big increases are imposed, the paper value of their wealth will plummet, leaving less to tax.
Next, do we go after the top 10% who pay 70% of federal income taxes now, and of course a chunk of local taxes?
My point is, after a year or two, you and the rest of us will be paying all those taxes, and we still won't be able to afford all the stuff we need.
We do need to reverse last few tax cuts, tax capital gains at much higher rates, adopt a robust estate tax, adopt some kind of wealth accumulation tax, etc.
Oh, a trump Billionaire friend did die of CV19. Guess he thought it was a hoax right up til his last breath.

Aside from about thirty other major problems with this plan, if you take their dough and nobody goes back to work for a year, there ain't gonna be any work to go back to for anybody.

It'll be a cinch. Borrow a few trillion and and sit around and wait for either the magic pill or for the Iranian coronavirus detection machine to get up and running.

6. Tax Them - Wealth Tax - Simple As Pie
If they want to donate more cool.
I pay a lot more of my income towards taxes than they pay on their wealth accumulation.
Wealth, particularly great wealth, is location independent. It does not even matter if they can afford it -- the wealthy will not be singled out and punished for being successful Lots of places to immigrate to with friendly tax laws for the super rich (and even the normal rich). Then you lose THAT tax base as well as your desired "wealth tax."
That or they will just spend/hide it. Probably both.
Gonna tax me for having net 7 figures in wealth after a lifetime of hard work and doing without? The spendthrifts skate with their toys and oversized houses and the thrifty are punished. Good plan.
