And so it begins -- KY House 99 fell to the Republican castigating the Democrat as Sanders Socialist

A special election was held tonight to replace Democrat Representative Rocky Adkins in the KY House 99. This district had been a bedrock Democratic district for decades. Rocky Adkins won it in 2016 by 20+ points even as Trump was winning KY by 30+ points. The Democratic candidate in the special election had to run against a Republican who hammered him as Sanders socialist because he was a Democrat. Nothing was further from the truth as he was a pro-life conservative. However, he was defeated by about 15%. The lesson for all of us is that it is true that down-ballot Democrats will have a difficult time winning in districts that are not liberal because they will branded as a Sanders socialist. KY House 99 has served a bellwether for the danger of a Sanders nomination.

13. You know, I'm hearing it from my latin american relatives who don't like Trump.

They say they can't vote for Bernie because of it. I reminded them that Bernie does not have the infrastructure in place to make the kind of sweeping changes they dread. It would take him two to three years just to put everybody in place. But Trump, on the other hand, has troops in place that have been working towards this moment since the Federalist Society originated. And they WILL lead us into an autocratic country if he gets another term.

3. I am sorry, but Bernie didn't lose this.

Stupid people, doubling down on stupid, did. They will be the ones asking "What happened?" And we will be the ones saying "You voted".

Strangely, I wonder if kydemo may be an anti-Bernie troll. Redwine (D) and White (R) are both Pro-Life, so that isn't relevant unless a large % of area Dems are so Pro-Abortion that they stayed home. I didn't find info about Redwine's other stances. White has been a businessman in the area for over 4 decades, while Redwine has been with Morehead State University for some 4 decades. White may have associated Redwine with Bernie in the campaign, perhaps correctly, but it may also be that White just has deeper and broader roots in the community and the Dem party's recent shampeachment has affected the Dem Party's image in the area more broadly than just the Federal level. If the latter, DU-folk and the Dem Party should be concerned.

Someone needs to tell the DUmbasses that it's not BS being a Socialist that will cause them to lose seats. It's the persecution of the President by members of your party abusing their power to impeach President Trump with bullshit charges.

Morehead state had Howard zinn talk once. Of course it was hosted by the polisci department and not even a weak Republican counterpoint was invited to respond. Curious if this Particular primitive was involved in that

They know it is the way it starts. Latin Americans are not the best at running democratic, capitalist societies.
