I took the physical today, and I barely got by it. But I think this is something I can control and make better. The problem is that my pulse is a bit high, and they almost failed me today because of it. My pulse rate has to be below 100 beats per minute, and I am right at that right now. So I need to make my heart stronger.
My question to you is, if I start a workout regimen now can I effectively lower my pulse in the next year? I'm overweight and out of shape
Seems like a person who must pass a physical every year for his livelihood would notice he is overweight, out of shape, and has a higher than acceptable pulse rate and do something about it before having to ask the experts at DU.
One also wonders why he didn't ask the health care professionals for a program - he was in the office.

Geez! Besides normal activity, walk an extra mile every day for a couple of weeks. Then bump that to two miles a day. After a couple weeks of that, start bumping that up what you walk on weekends and maybe pick up your pace gradually. If that's too aggressive, start at half a mile a day and work your way up from there. Then, on Thanksgiving morning, walk a turkey trot 5K (3.11 miles). Those are usually family-oriented events, so a slow finish time - >1 hour - won't matter, especially if there's also a 10K distance.
Get to know trail systems in your area. As you gain endurance, work your way up to 5 or 6 miles on a weekend day (Hello! 10K = 6.22 miles!). Allow 6-12 months to get to the point where walking 4 or 5 or 6 miles on a single day is doable.
And carry and use a water bottle! Use sunscreen! And don't cheap out on shoes.

Too much work, I think he is looking for a pill or "prescription" or something.

Brilliant! Asking a question about physical or mental fitness at the DUmp is comparable to asking a drug addict how to kick the habit. This will go over well.

Publish a study that concludes that heavy intake of THC is more effective than insulin at treating Type 2 Diabetes and he'll think he's died and gone to heaven already.

The easiest solution is get a new job! Be thankful you still have a pulse! :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :-) :-) :rotf: :rotf: :rotf:

That's more likely than him actually laying off on the face-stuffing.

Wasn't Tubbs working out in a gym a while back and posting his weight loss progress?
Or was that one of the other DUmbasses?
