6. The U.S.A. cult of small family farms and small business is ugly and harmful... but there are too many billionaires making money off it, even as they crush the hopes and dreams of those ignorant enough to fall for the scam.

It wouldn't be so bad if the U.S.A. had stronger social safety nets, such as universal healthcare, universal safe comfortable housing, and healthy food for all, so that nobody who crashed would burn.

Mandatory life imprisonment for predatory lenders might also be a good thing.

But until then, there's a sucker born every minute, and plenty of people willing to bet that their own small farm or small business endeavor will be one of the few that succeeds.

Just when you think that DUmpmonkiez can't go further into their love of Communism... they propose collectivization of the farms...

This is just a post on this topic:

America Loves the Idea of Family Farms. That's Unfortunate.

Really good piece

Our culture puts so much emphasis on one “right” way of farming — solo family operations — that we ignore valuable lessons from people who’ve done it differently for hundreds or thousands of years. It’s time for us to open up and look at other ways of doing things.

Yes... it's a piece about the collective farm. It's for the family, really...  :thatsright:

In the early 1930s over 91% of agricultural land became collectivized as rural households entered collective farms with their land, livestock, and other assets. The death toll cited by experts has ranged from 7 million to 14 million.

So, big business and corporate agriculture are evil. And small businesses and family farms are evil.

:bird: Kolkhoz 2.0, because the Soviets just didn't do it right. :bird:

Been working fine for me, get to write off all sorts of things and take advantage of Grants that the government insists on handing out. Own more than 10 acres and the world is your oyster

Does this mean that legendary urban farmer Big Mo is ugly and harmful?

OK let's go with that.

How stupid!! It’s an article that essentially says that because one might try and fail, and then if you fail you might feel overwhelming guilt and blame, the option of even trying should be taken away. That’s as un-American as you can get.
