I would characterize this DU thread as Lucy, taking one knee and prepping the football to be kicked by Charlie Brown.

Yes, schadenfreude is always inappropriate and insensitive. However, freudenschade is one of earth's finest delights. It will be especially fabulous in November if (when) the Obamessiah goes down in flames, insh'alla.

One more word on freudenschade. If you want to really enjoy Election Day, you should register your mole at DU now, if you don't already have one. On general election evenings, DU is usually closed to non-members. When they start to really howl, scream, rend their clothes, and self-flagellate, Skinner gets embarrassed and shields the site from public view.  DU's General Discussion forum, on the evening John Ef'n (D-Hanoi) went down in flames, was one of the most entertaining and fascinating events I've ever attended. I'm sure some here still have screen caps. It was open to members only until sometime the next day, so you missed it if you couldn't sign on with a mole. This year will be even better, allah willing.

Good thing I have found a place whose very essence requires a sense of humor :)

:cheersmate:  thats what you get for thinking for yourself and not joining the marching morons (aside "The Marching Morons", excellent SciFi novella by C.M. Kornbluth). Personally I have always enjoyed a good dose of schadenfreude.
I think I will wallow in schadenfreude on election night as my farewell to DU. I am avoiding the place so I don't get tombstoned till then.
