My sister's fiance is a TTY operator. *language warning*

He doesn't talk about his job much.

I always thought, "What a nice thing to be able to help people communicate."

More and more hearing impaired people are using cell phones to text, but TTY is still a thing, particularly with the elderly.

Today, I learned, not such a nice job.

Apparently, a lot of these people are racist and homophobic. He has to both transcribe and read horrible things about the n-words and the n-word lovers. And about how n-words and s-words are ruining the country.

Except, he has to SAY those words, and type them out.

 Ugh. I couldn't do it. I really don't think I could.

What is the point of your DUmb bouncy?

				Well, whoop-whoop-whoop-de-do.

I don't suppose it's occurred to the covetous primitive that being deaf and having to use such devices is more of a nuisance, a hassle, than being hearing and having to listen to our obscenities.

As "problems," they're nowhere near in magnitude.  The covetous primitive's relative needs to be grateful.

The DUmmie is hoping someone asks for specific examples of the language so they can have an excuse for saying n****r a bunch of times.

Yeah, but what is an "s-word"??
-
Tell your sister's fiance to stop transcribing rap musician's material

-
Yeah, but what is an "s-word"??

Hispanics I assume or maybe another name for black people.
-
Yeah, but what is an "s-word"??
Deaf people, like blind people, are notoriously scatological in our language.

I have no idea why, but the phenomenon's frequently noticed.

Myself, I keep it pretty much under control; I write the "s" word over on DU Jr. a lot more times than I utter it in real life.

A family friend is a hearing person who is part of the deaf community locally. I've heard indirectly through my kids who are her friend similar things.

A person uttering the N-Word in a store will be overheard by God knows how many people. A deaf person signing the N-Word to a friend in the same context will probably be only understood by the friend. So social restraint is diminished by that semi-privacy. That's my theory, anyway.

This assumes, of course, that Coventina wasn't making @#$% up.

If someone wants to call someone a derogatory name, they should just call them "democrats".

"They're a bunch of democrat lovers." "Those democrats are ruining the country."

 See, it works.
