Title: the crying DUmmie
Post by: franksolich on August 22, 2008, 08:42:04 PM
Anybody remember that tawdry photograph of that hefty chick, dressed like a witch or something, crying, and holding a big sign saying "COUNT ALL VOTES" (in regards to Ohio, 2004), with that skid-row-looking guy sitting behind her?

I wish I had the photograph to post here, but this has been a sloppy evening.

Anyway.  This information is courtesy Purrcival from the DUmmie FUnnies.

Purrcival's done me a lot of favors in the past regarding the primitives.

This is her website:

http://www.victoriaparks.com/

I know her name because she was identified in a news article.

Doesn’t seem to be anything in News or Schedule for her. She used to play at rallies for Kerry and she wrote some anti-Bush, anti-war songs. She was active in fighting supposed “vote fraud”. She’s from the Columbus, Ohio area.

And this is Victoria Parks singing “Another Facist Day”:

Victoria Parks,
Bardic Balladeer and Court Jester of Our Time.

Victoria Parks is a performing songwriter known for her lyrics and irrestiable melodies. She writes humorous, and contemporary ballads. She writes in multiple genres. Her soaring voice ranges from deep and rich to lilting and ethereal. She has a love of impersonating politicians in her vocal styles. She has a good voice for Broadway. This is how she came to be nicknamed "Victrola." Be prepared. Some material may not be suitable for those who don't get irony, metaphor or satire. She does not shy away from subjects. "If I do not make you feel something, I have done nothing. What I love the most is making people laugh." New fans remark on how they love her humorous material but long-time fans appreciate the entire body of her work. Powerful, timeless lyrics cross cultures and history. She writes with a special affinity for folklore and historical subjects. Wry humor mixed with a strong dose of irony are characteristic of her songwriting. Her love of traditional writing is very much in keeping with bardic tradition. Her contemporary material is full of passion, humor, joy and pathos. Ballads are a strong suit for her. Her songs reveal a woman of her time though her musical feet are rooted firmly in tradition. She is known for her folk and folkrock debut CD Sure Feels Like Home and the traditionally influenced 2003 release, Wild English Rose (read reviews below).

Say a Prayer for America

She's a hungry, barefoot little girl in tangled hair
Waiting for her daddy with her lonely stare
Standing in the door, only rags to wear
and no one seems to care

Say a prayer for America
Say a prayer for America

Daddy got his orders and it wasn't long
The morning when he shipped out then he was gone
He said "you and Mom must find a way to carry on,
So help her all you can"

Say a prayer for your soldier man
Say a prayer for your soldier man

"Some say I fight for freedom for a foreign land
Some say we fight for oil and its all a scam
Write and send me pictures baby when you can
And show me that you care"

Say a prayer for America
Say a prayer for America

Daddy made it home but his wounds still hurt
The factory went to China and he can't find work
His unemployment dried up now he's gone berserk
And the company don't care

Say a prayer for America
Say a prayer for America

Daddy needs a doctor, he's a broken man
Like our Grandpa Jimmy after Viet Nam
He can't get help and no one seems to gives a damn
For the burden that he bears

Say a prayer for America
Say a prayer for America
Show you care for America
Cast a vote for America
Say a prayer for America

I kept expecting her to eat the guitar.

But to answer your question, no.  It never occured to her that she wouldn't be singing "It's another fascist day" if we were living under fascism.  I take that back; it might occur to her if it were written in icing on a doughnut.

The USA has spent trillions of dollars on "the war on poverty."  There are many social support programs available, including Food Stamps, WIC, Section 8, even subsidies for family members (it used to be a family responsibility but now they have their hand out).  Free school lunches and school teache4rs are supposed to monitor children who clearly are in poverty situations.

And there are the local churches, Red Cross, Salvation Army, Goodwill, etc.

How DARE you say no one cares.  Many care, many pay.

Daddy VOLUNTEERED for the Army.  Mommy married (we hope) Daddy knowing he is a warrior. This is a moment of poignant triumph, not the "boo hoo" moment you would paint.

Find me 10 active soldiers who believe that.  Also, if it was all about oil, WHERE IS THAT OIL?

This was an war to provide safety, and it has worked (anyone want to list the number of attacks on the USA since 9/11?  Anyone?)

Businesses exist for one reason: to make profits.  It is called CAPITALISM, something foreign to you pinkos, who were born with and will die with your hand out.  The USA unemployment rate is still around 5.5%, which means we have a 94.5 EMPLOYMENT rate, one of the best in the world. It would be even higher if you bleeding-hearts would not coddle the illegals wo attack our very economic system.  It is YOU who hurt "Daddy."

The Veterans Administration is still quite strong, if not what it should be.  The idea that no one cares is a fiction, designed by pacifists who would rather America be subjegated than to show real spine.

Yes, vote McCain instead of an effete, elitist, clueless, inexperienced (150 days in the Senate) speech-talker who is being handled by the extreme Left who want to make Anerica into Venezuela writ large (with THEM in the driver's seat).

Stupid, stupid, stupid Anti-American socialists.

They ALL have this jerkoff musician fantasy - just go back to the pic threads, if you can bear it. Every male DUmmy seems to be plucking on a guitar, and every DUmmy chick at one point or another had designs on the Billie Holliday/Janis Ian/Carly Simon thing. They're all totally delusional and completely star-struck: they think plucking on a guitar will get them laid and will hook them up with all the other cool dope-smokers who never amounted to jack shit and never will.

And when the hangover wears off, and they realize that they're nothing, and they never will master the simple craft of playing scales, they steal music from other people. See Tib, TomIn.

Makes me wonder why there aren't any female rock instrumental virtuosos--yes, I know about Heart, and a very few others, but none of them are in the league of even a Pete Townshend, none have even come close to the virtuosity of the proggressive rock bands like YES or ELP or King Crimson, or men from that era like John McLaughlin. I've never seen any women in rock or jazz fusion who can play at that level, and at that, not just play, but create innovative sounds with a knowledge of musical timing, various instruments, and the genius required to meld them into a new genre all its own, that's typified by the music produced rather than the gender of who made it.

And as for lyrics-pick a period, especially, say,Cole Porter's day, or Noel Coward. No woman has ever written the witty yet sometimes sneakily touching lyrics these men did.

I felt like getting y'all's opinions on why all the top musicians have always been men, and this thread seemed like a good segue into the question. A thread at FR made me think of the thread in the first place.

Sung to the tune "Where have all the flowers gone?" by Pete Seeger

Where have all the moonbats gone?
Long time passing
Where have all the moonbats gone?
Long time ago
Where have all the moonbats gone?
Gone to march with Steve and Jon
When will they ever learn?
When will they ever learn?
