“White House officials were caught off guard Wednesday by House Speaker Nancy Pelosi formally disinviting President Trump from giving his State of the Union address from the House chamber, leaving them scrambling for a response,” CNN reports.
“White House officials had believed Pelosi wanted only to postpone Trump’s State of the Union for political reasons after she sent a letter to him last week asking him to delay the address until after the partial government shutdown ended. The plan from administration officials was to call her bluff by pressing forward with plans to deliver the speech, including a new letter on Wednesday that they hoped would force her hand.”
“Now they’re left exploring alternative venues.”

The deal is, the primitives, and unfortunately many on this side, are trying to figure out Donald Trump.
Donald Trump is smarter than most people, and so one shouldn't even try.
Better to just sit back, relax, get mellow, and enjoy the show. I dunno what he's done to her, but he's surely screwed her over.....again. Time will tell.

Yeah. I suspect Trump and his peeps started working on a superior "Plan B" as soon as they started hearing that Miss Nancy might try something this stupidly petty - probably well before she went public. I think Trump's recent moves were intended to force her to give in or make a statement too clear to weasel out of. Her response was her response, but basically Trump flushed her out into the open.

I've had many a kerfuffle with ol' bob...so much so that he's sent me a few nasty PM's. He swears that he's not gothmog/LMPV, but I don't believe him.

Continuing my thought above, Miss Nancy foolishly ceded to Trump control of location, timing, and audience. Miss Nancy also gave up the Ds' ability to salt the audience with disrupters (like they did to Bush) or to do something childish, like walking out as Trump began to speak.
That a very ordinary guy like me can foresee at least some of the possibilities Miss Nancy presented to Trump demonstrate how thought-free and Trump-Hatred-blinded Gothboy is.

The guy's got a rap sheet a mile long, which I'll bet the Gothmog primitive is too law-abiding to have.

So, now, Trump gets basically an hour plus to present his national emergency plan, state the reasons for the emergency, the steps he has taken to stop the problem, and plenty of time to state who stood in the way. He can throw in video remarks of both Nancy and Chuck in the past advocating for a wall in the past, and drive home the fact that they literally took hostages (unpaid federal workers) in order to force his hand. He can finish up by stating that, since the funding for the wall is secured in with already appropriated funds, if Nancy and Chuck want to come talk about reopening the government, he will be ready, as he has been the whole time. If they want to continue to be petty, he will have to activate the gov't's RIF plans to let those workers go get a job that will pay them.

Hi, Frank. What I'll simply never understand is how anyone can insult an opponent and expect him to take them seriously. How can those who call people silly names ever expect to work together in common cause? We may not agree on some issues, you and I, but we do have respect for each other. Too bad our "elders and betters" (LOL!) can't follow our example. As you know, in over 9,000 posts on Discussionist, never once did I disrespect your good American President.

There are similarly unflattering "pictures" of Obama. Sadly, courtesy and respect for one's opponents got dumped in the sewer decades ago, since Reagan at the least (though LBJ's "Daisy" campaign ad pushes the chronology back a couple of decades before Reagan). It's become such a commonplace that I really do not see a way back.

One can hope, and be decent, but right now the flood of sewage has me less than optimistic. We've just been through a week in which teenagers were demonized for something they did not do. And the demonizers dialed their sewage up to "11" after proof surfaced the teenagers did not do what they were accused of doing. That doesn't inspire optimism in me.
