I know a foolproof way to lower the trade deficit and reduce illegal immigration

It also lowers rents, reduces income inequality, lowers our carbon output, and reduces household debt. We know it works because we've already tried it before.

Unfortunately, it's "have a recession". In 2008-2010, our trade deficit fell, illegal immigration fell, rents fell, income inequality fell, our carbon output was reduced, and household debt fell.

I keep thinking that the problems a lot of people are up in arms about are the "problems" of having a very good economy.

Interest rates should have been adjusted back up, gradually, 5 or 10 years ago. I haven't paid close attention to it, but it sounds like the problem is that it is not being done gradually. And with the consequent slowing of economic growth, the MSM and Ds have been working to talk us into a recession. Hence this Concern-Gloating thread on DU.

Have large fines for marijuana that police find without proper tax stamps.

Good idea. I do believe the Tax Stamp act is still in place. EVERY arrest for possession of ANY amount...$200 FEDERAL tax. EVERY purchase of "legal" or "medical"...$200 FEDERAL tax.
