Should we be worried?
From this Wired 'Danger Room' report:
U.S. Warships Run the Gauntlet with Georgia Aid
The U.S. Air Force flew its first planeful of medical supplies to Georgia more than a week ago. Now the U.S. Navy is getting in on the humanitarian action, sending a flotilla of at least three American ships plus some friends via the Black Sea to deliver more aid to Georgia. What's interesting is the mix of ships involved.
As we speak, the USS Kearsarge assault ship is sailing alone in Latin America, totally unescorted, on its own humanitarian mission. Captain Walter Towns said he feels "pretty secure." The Georgia flotilla, by contrast, is stacked with heavily-armed warships. The vanguard includes the Burke-class destroyer McFaul (pictured)and the armed Coast Guard cutter Dallas. (Another Dallas, a nuclear submarine , is also in the area.)

Update 14:33 EST: Uh-oh: "Russian forces took up positions Thursday at the entrance to Georgia's main Black Sea port city of Poti, excavating trenches, setting up mortars and blocking a key bridge with armored personnel carriers and trucks," the AP reports.

NATO ships are also in the Black Sea right now as part of some kind of "exercise."

This is all a game plan that Bush wants to lead to confrontation.

2. Yes, we should instead of us focusing on how many houses a candidate has or who will someone pick as their VP, Cheney is working his mastermind sick plan. Poland was pushed into the Missile shield defense system, by the US proking the Georgia invasion, made Poland take a second look, Poland was against this shield at one time, did Cheney give them an offer that they couldn't refuse, and what's happening in Iran, and Israel wondering when they get the order to attack Iran, am I going on and on let me stop now.

3. Russia blocks Georgia's main port city
POTI, Georgia (AP) — Russian forces dug trenches and built fortifications in key areas of Georgia Thursday, but also rolled columns of tanks north toward home, picking and choosing how their nation would comply with the terms of a peace accord.
<snip>
In a move sure to heighten tensions, a U.S. Navy guided missile destroyer loaded with humanitarian aid was heading to Georgia — the first of three U.S. Navy ships that will carry supplies such as blankets, hygiene kits and baby food to Georgia. The United States has also delivered aid to Tbilisi on 20 flights since Aug. 19.

I'm keeping a very close eye on this situation as it develops.

We may just yet find out how those T-80's with the slow autoloaders perform against REAL tanks.

Something I, as a cavalry officer in the late 80s, wasn't too eager to find out.

Exactly. Bush could offer Universal Health Care to the entire world, give a "free" education to the entire world, abolish the military completely, increase welfare by 3000%, and create a car that ran on noting but air with ZERO carbon emissions.........and they'd STILL hate him.Quote1. And if we were doing nothing this DUmmie would be the first to claim that W is in collusion w/ The Russians and this was just part of their evil plan to conquer the world.

Shit like this is why people should have jobs.

Imagine our surprise in 1991 when we found they explode on contact like a ****ing Pinto.

I know. I remember talking to a friend of mine, who was the S-2 of 3rd Squadron of 3rd ACR at the time (Desert Storm). I remember him telling me that, at 1600 meters, an M1A1 was able to throw the turret of a T-72 30 feet into the air--with a HEAT round! I stood on the phone absolutely stunned at what he told me. I said back to him, "You were told the same stuff that I was--that wasn't supposed to . . . that shouldn't happen!" His response was, "I know, but I saw it happen--about twelve times." Turns out that, when the "cease-fire" was called, a lot of the Iraqi equipment was just sitting in the desert with no crews or places to go. So, 3rd ACR decided to have an impromptu gunnery exercise with the real thing as targets.

Longest kill I saw was at 2600. Towards the end we took a whole tank battalion prisoner. They just left their tanks wehre they were dug in and walked away. I got to talk to a couple of the officers. Their comment was, "We knew when the Americans were coming when our tanks just started to blow up."
Talk to quiet a few my last tour over. They ahd the same stories in '03 that we'd heard in '91. They wouldn't even see us when we began to engage.
1st Brigade, 1st ID. I drove the BDES3's HMMWV. Didn't see a gawd-damm thing except dust.
