Title: VOTE NO ON PROP 10, OR I COULD BE HOMELESS.... not kidding

Good find!  That thread is HUGE!  Poor ol' yuiyoshida is going to have a stroke before that thread is done.  Either that or just give up and put a bullet in it's head.

California Proposition 10 (November, 2018 election) (https://ballotpedia.org/California_Proposition_10,_Local_Rent_Control_Initiative_(2018)) would significantly expand the types of dwellings on which cities could impose rent control. This would be yet another layer of government burden that would discourage building new housing and rehabilitating existing buildings into housing in California's already heavily burdened housing marketplace. It would also increase bureaucracy in many cities, further burdening taxpayers.

yuiyoshida, will be voting against Prop 10 because of how he would be affected. I'll be voting against it because I do not believe in rent control and Prop 10 would expand permissible rent control in California, a step in the wrong direction. I would not be affected by Prop 10 one way or another.

Yeah, I read up on that and it is surreal to see some of the leftists over there arguing against more government control.

SF is the definition of "blue shithole".  Let them make it even more so.

It's just fascinating to see them defend the republican bill that is keeping the rent control down.  Some of them actually seem to understand that rent control is a bad thing.

I promise if they ever implemented rent controls where I live, all the rent houses I own would be sold just as fast as I could make it happen.  I'll be damned if they're going to be able to tell me what I can charge for rent, and how I'm going to maintain it, etc.

Wonder if our new friend Left Shoe backs the horrible idea of rent control?

On Skin's island, this is what they can point to and say they have disagreements on their forum and are not the type that walk in lockstep. In this case, it's a match between those who can't read and those who want to impose more communism.

5. Prop 10 does not do this

It repeals a state law passed during the republican 1980s. That law prevent municipalities from implementing stricter rent control. The law was basically an FU to Berkeley and Santa Monica who had very strict rent control laws.

Prop 10 will allow municipalities to pass stronger rent control laws.

It will not weaken any existing rent control law or other tenant protection

8. NO IT DOESN'T

the PROP IS BULLSHIT.. don't **** with rent control...

<picture of homeless person being homeless>

This will add more people to THE HOMELESS in San Francisco including me. I WOULD SOONER kill myself than live like this.
Why does she hate the homeless so much she would rather die than be one of them?

It's pretty amusing to see DUpipo arguing over Prop 10 because, while they like tighter government controls, they don't like that they might be adversely effected. :rotf:

I would suggest that while the slant eyed DUmmie still has the opportunity:
(S)he take some blankets.
Tear them into 3 inch wide strips.
Braided them into a rope.
Hang (her)himself.
It won't be missed.

Suitable anchoring fixtures may not be so easy to find on the street.

That is one of the characteristics of the primitives.

Another is a loony tunes OP that after a few replies is debunked yet for hours or days new responses lapping the shit up keep getting added.

Well, yui could always get a car or motor home and do this (https://www.mercurynews.com/2016/04/07/san-jose-churches-offer-overnight-parking-for-homeless-people-in-cars-vans-rvs/). The down-side for yui would be learning that the Catholic and Evangelical churches yui hates are much more tolerant than yui wants them to be or is.

You should really stop when the other DUmmies tell you that you have something completely wrong, and add that even if you were right, your idea about how to deal with it is stupid.

To make my decision regarding supporting an initiative I don't look at what's in it. Instead I always look at who is endorsing it. With Prop 10 you have support coming from various SEIU unions and Democratic Socialists of America groups. That right there tells me this will be bad for our state and gets a big no vote from me.

That's often a tip-off, and I've done that many times. My principles for initiatives are:

* No new or renewed taxes;

* No new bond measures (except if they build prisons space or new dams);

* No new regulations or expansion of government power.

We actually have some good ones on the ballot in NC this year.  None of these are going to "energize" the moonbats to vote...

It's no skin off my nose since I live a thousand miles away with no desire to get any closer to the on-going trainwreck there, but I can see why both some property-owners and some Leftist leeches would support it.

Property owners might see it as something their own locality isn't likely to do (Not in places like SF of course) and see it as removing a State-held sword from the space over their heads.

The leeches like SEIU see it as probable that they will be able to gain enough political power to pass more-sweeping rent control in many more places than now, and perhaps get so much control in the State legislature that they can pass State-wide rent control that'll affect every city.

In the long term I'd say the leech version is the more-likely outcome by far.

Surely a Troll has somehow gotten onto someone's 26k post account.
