Report: Asia Argento Paid Her Own Sexual-Assault Accuser $380,000

Asia Argento, the Italian actress and director who became a leading voice in the #MeToo movement after accusing Harvey Weinstein of assault, paid a young actor $380,000 after he accused her of sexually assaulting him while he was underage, according to The New York Times. Jimmy Bennett said he was 17 and Argento 37 when she allegedly assaulted him in a motel room in 2013, years after they had played mother and son in The Heart Is Deceitful Above All Things. Argento reportedly paid Bennett the money after his lawyer sent her lawyer a “notice of intent” saying the aftermath of the “sexual battery” traumatized Bennett, affected his work and income, and endangered his mental health. Argento’s boyfriend, the chef and TV host Anthony Bourdain, also a leading voice in the #MeToo movement after she came forward with accusations against Weinstein, died in June by suicide.

1. A bizarre twist.
We really have some strange notions of morality and legality - institutions pervasive with paying off victims, criminals above the law.
Extortion and bribery are so rampant everywhere. Not to mention the deviant, criminal behaviors.
Harvey Weinstein and Matt Lauer and Al Franken and the list goes on and on, all of them being brought down by the metoo movement--everybody except the one person they were after to begin with--President Trump. Now, one of the women that is going after Weinstein is in trouble of her own.
Weinstein and Lauer and Franken and the others had been getting away with their shenanigans for years and nothing was ever done about it until the left decided they could use the sexual impropriety angle to go after Trump. They turned on the spotlight and people are dropping like flies--everybody but Trump.
A lot of people that are beloved by the left are biting the dust in this shake up--Franken, Kevin Spacey, etc. And now one of the accusers too.
But Trump is still standing. That has got to sting if you're a leftist.

There's no "bizarre twist" or even significant surprise in this. "Morality" has been a joke in Hollyweird for decades, and among Libs/Progs for almost as long. The merger of Hollyweird and Lib/Progs ideas back in the 60s and 70s made this sort of thing predictable ... for those willing to see the connection between permissiveness and promiscuity culture and sexual abuse and exploitation.

But but but he was only 17 years and two months old when it happened!
The "wanna have sex" switch had flipped when he was (if he was like me) around age 12, but the magical "before this exact minute, it's RAAAAPE of a BAAAAAAABY" switch wasn't due to flip for another ten months!!!
As a Christian, I decry sexual activity outside of a permanent man-woman marriage. As a logical human being, I decry accusations of sexual misconduct between those who both "can" and "want to" (and my experience says if you're a guy and you don't want to, you won't be able to-- no guy can "fake" an erection, let alone an orgasm, to make his partner lose interest, for instance).
Change my mind!

I thought this topic dealt with THIS disappointing news for Leftists:
Back in March 2018, CNN was giddy about a Russian prostitute arrested in Thailand named Anastasia Vashukevich; who claimed to have evidence of Russia’s interference in the 2016 election. CNN framed the prostitute story around a possibility that her claims would back-up the ridiculous Trump ‘hookers’ angle in the Steele dossier...
CNN even sent Ivan Watson to Thailand to interview Ms. Vashukevich in the hopes that she could validate the “hookers” and “pee-tapes” material that was in the Steele dossier.
Well, it turns out the recordings Ms. Vashukevich was promoting/leveraging, were actually recordings of Oleg Deripaska; and, at his request she returned them to him...
This is HUGE.
Why?
Because everyone was wondering how the salacious and ridiculous Russian “hookers” and “pee tapes” story went into the Steele Dossier. Well, in recent discoveries, including text message and emails between DOJ Deputy Bruce Ohr and Christopher Steele, it was uncovered that Christopher Steele was representing Oleg Deripaska; and was also likely employed (at least in part) by Oleg Deripaska.
It now stands as a virtual certainty that Deripaska was the source of those ridiculous claims that Steele put into the dossier.
