Kennedy announces retirement from Supreme Court
Supreme Court Justice Anthony Kennedy has announced he is retiring after more than 30 years on the court, kicking off what is sure to be a vicious confirmation battle.
He will retire effective July 31.
Kennedy, who turns 82 in July, is the court’s longest-serving member and second-oldest justice after its leading liberal, Ruth Bader Ginsburg, who is 85.

1. That's it. I'm off the internet for the day.
I can't take anymore bad news.
Well, too bad for the primitives.
Boo-hoo-hoo.
It's not as if we've never gotten bad news on this side of the aisle before.

That kind of says a lot about Kennedy. I'm sure there were times DUpipo-grade Progs execrated him, but they knew he was a weather vane who would rule their way sometimes.

118. And when we get the Senate, House and Presidency back
pass laws to shrink the USSC down to the size where it can
be drown in a bathtub. Goodridance to this anti-democratic
institution.

I'm loving all the Kennedy threads over there. It's almost as good as Trump winning. Almost.

56. There is no more stalling for Dems
Mitch fixed that with the way he handled the Gorsuch nomination. He can shove through whoever he wants. The only way is for TWO Republican senators to balk. And that won't happen.
your party started it, too bad, so sad

Just when I thought winning couldn't get any better, it does! :yahoo:
I going to need an extra large  for viewing DUmp threads for the next couple of months. :-)

OK, stipulating that the Ds regain control of both Houses of Congress, that Congress has that authority, and that the change would not need Presidential approval, who would appoint those new Associate Justices? :-)
-
BTW, since Washington signed the Judicial Act of 1789 in to law it's pretty certain that any change to the USSC attempted by Congress would have to be signed by... President Trump.
Once again DUpipo are :stoner: -dreaming.

Those who forget history are doomed to vote Democrat.

I seem to recall some politician trying the same thing about 80 years ago. How did that work out?
BTW... you seem awfully sure you are going to win in 2020. Just like you were sure in 2016. How did that work out for you?

Here it is, showing why the primitives have only themselves to blame for this.
Highlights of Senator Mitch McConnell on the Senate floor (in 2013 I believe) decrying the Democrats' just-implemented "nuclear option" for judicial nominees.
https://youtu.be/qduJjDJnQfo
My transcript:
"Once again, Senate Democrats are threatening to break the Rules of the Senate, break the Rules of the Senate, in order to change the Rules of the Senate. And over what? Over what? Over a court that doesn't even have enough work to do? ... The majority leader promised, he promised, over and over again, that he wouldn't break the rules of the Senate in order to change them. ... If you want to play games, set yet another precedent that you'll no doubt come to regret, I say to my friends on the other side of the aisle: You'll regret this, and you may regret it a lot sooner than you think."
I don't think it was 2013; I think it was earlier, when (R)s were a minority in the Senate.
The primitives have to remember that a blade cuts both ways.....but of course they won't remember.

So many meltdowns and ran out of iodine pills. :lmao:

Actually someone needs to go up and shake Ruth Bader Ginsberg, she may already have croaked and people just think she's napping. Weekend at Bernie's.

I quit feeding my cats to see if they could scratch the grin off my face. Nope, just my bloody hands and legs so I fed them. One quart of moonshine and
a live chicken fixed the damage.
