2. I think it's bullshit we even use "%" for countrywide polls
We have an electoria system. What is the current breakdown of electorial votes if the election were held today. That truly tells the story and Obama is always ahead in those.
Lynn is not happy (http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=132x6676241#6676256) so she starts a thread of her own.

You need to look at EACH state and as you can see from these major polls, Obama currently is leading in electorial votes.

But we need to have these so-called Percentage polls because if repukes are to steal the elections they have to show "But Look, McIdiot was ahead in the polls"

1. Media and Poll perception
Its easier for them to steal an erection when the polls are so called 'close'
when they really are not........

2. Exactly! Poll fraud has to precede election fraud.

the scary thing is that you are right, elections are popularity contests. Maybe we should go to the caucus system instead, after all it worked so well for the democrats.

Wasn't it the DUmp that wanted to get rid of the Electoral College so desperately?   Aren't they the ones who wanted it to be a "countrywide popularity contest?"

Amazing how their opinions on Opinion Polls change when the numbers aren't in their favor.

You get into a discussion with any one of those DUmmies bemoaning and badmouthing these polls and discuss with them their favorite topic...President Bush...they will cite...wait for it...polls in their arguements about why he's such a horrible leader.

Same thing if you get them in a discussion about Iraq.

Electoral College based polling shows McCain already the winner 274 to 264.

This probably deserves a new thread, but I came across the prediction/guarantee of TruthIsAll for the November election:

Quote
The 2008 Election Calculator projects that Obama will win in a landslide: 71-59m (54.1-44.7%). The model calculates the True Vote based on the candidate’s share of returning 2004 voters and those who did not vote in 2004.  The analysis is based on an estimate of total votes cast (including uncounted), but millions of (mostly Democratic) disenfranchised “caged” voters will never get to the polls. If they were allowed to vote, the landslide would be significantly greater than the 12 million vote margin.

But the official Recorded Vote never reflects the True Vote. Accordingly, we can expect that Obama’s recorded margin will be closer to 64-61m.  The landslide will be denied due to election fraud, just like it was in the 2006 midterms when the Democrats won 10-20 more seats than official results indicate.

yup, i learned this in Journalism 101; in the radio broadcast of the Nixon-Kennedy debates, where people couldnt see the visuals people clearly thought Nixon was the winner.

in the tv debates, Nixon had bad makeup and sweated like a horse under the lights - and Kennedy looked calmer, but his answers were fluff and people thought, just based on appearances, that Kennedy had won.

that's when politicians learned to deliver bad news with a smile and a TON of US flags behind them. they knew the public was only watching the visual cues, and so, would not be so distressed if they smiled a lot and looked patriotic.

hence was born, the flag pin.

it certainly was.. how many threads did we see over there after Gore lost, but that he 'won the popular vote!!' ...?

this is just the set up to how we are going to steal it again. i just hope this time Obama has the guts to go out there and cry foul and MAKE it become a huge issue.

then we'll get to the bottom of this 'stealing' issue..
