Title: No link---no thread ... just a question.
Post by: Kc25 on May 30, 2018, 04:02:34 PM
Does Lanternwaste have a version of Tourettes where he has to type everything twice? Is it a tic of some sort...?

I'd call it a Rainman thing... but he doesn't appear to have the redeeming savant intelligence to go along with it.

I saw a thread sometime back where he wasn't doing that.  It was something he was really interested in and he dropped the whole 'pompous ass' routine.  It was strange.

Now, since you brought up weird posting behavior of DUmmies...

...for now we can ignore to the constantly outranged goons.  And the drunks like Pitt & Crazy Aunt Nance.

Ages ago, the person called Sniffa had a weird issue with the letter "L".  Anyone else recall that?

I do not recall that particular scandal. Is there a link here somewhere? Also, I always thought Sniffa was a she. Didn't she have a son who was injured in Iraq or Afghanistan? Or was that someone else? Pix of the son were posted, IIRC.

Well, the short version is that Sniffa and his long-term squeeze (A rather frumpy and unattractive fat-ass middle-aged DUmmie broad, don't recall her name), agreed to add a third player, a younger more attractive female DUmmette ("More" being a fairly low hurdle to clear, I don't recall what she looked like but the ones who can get to '4' on the traditional system are rare indeed).  No doubt Sniffa himself was the prime mover on the whole cunning plan.  Needless to say, no huge amount of time passed until the erstwhile Madame Sniffa on the outside looking in, cut out of the action...the usual end to these sorts of >2 unions, in my experience (As an eyewitness, not a participant, of course).

One of the women, the one with large jugs, was "bicentennialbabe," or something like that.

I forget the original name of the other one, the sniffing primitive's first one, but after it was all over, she changed her screen-name to something about "phoenix rising."  She was the good-looking onep; the bicentennial boobs, the sniffing primitive's second one, was the fat one.

sniffa's wife was MsSniffa, the 3rd being bicentennialbaby.

It's my curse; I can remember the names of these kooks.

As far as the other, didn't RNG hook up with both Freeper and daveman? Yeah, I never got that either, especially after seeing what she looked like. I have no intention of ever cheating on my wife, but if I were crazy and stupid enough to do it, it'd have to look a whole lot better than RNG could ever hope to look.

My God. I remember that. It was between RNG and Skinner (not the one at DU), Freeper, and Daveman. What a mess it was. I remember it tore CU apart and led to a lot of infighting.

Yes I remember that as well even though I just lurked back then.  Her name was Redneck Gal.  Lived out in Oklahoma and if I recall "her" story correctly her hubby went awol on her and she was trying to run this huge farm by herself.  After that story came out, she went thru like a couple three guys there at CU.  I didn't think she was that good looking either. Certainly not honey pot material.  I can remember thinking after the first guy that anyone would be crazy to ruin their marriage over her... but they did.  Still amazes me.  The final one I remember was a big time moderator there if I recall correctly. Name escapes me... I was thinking DarkHalo but he had a girlfriend... wasn't married.  Anyway...I kinda lost track of it all after that.

I remember the sniffa saga as well.  He was the idiot that used to brag about pissing off the balcony of his apartment. Finally got busted for it one time after he pissed on like the apartment manager.  When the threesome thing came around I can remember thinking that was not gonna work out well for one of the women.  He finally got booted from DU. Anybody remember why?

Man both of those little pieces of drama were a loooong time ago.

Great recall, sir.  Excellent.

I believe the "big time moderator" was daveman, alas one of my favorite people there but he proved his own worst enemy.

I was still new to our old home when this was going on, and used to think daveman, DarkHalo, and Demonic Underwear ran the place, they were so awesome.

I also used to get gator confused with FlaGator, and used to wonder why nobody but PhillyGirl liked gator (FlaGator), who seemed a nice guy to me.

Gator. He ran the place, right? IIRC, he was a virulent anti-Semite and general bigot. There was a Black woman, maybe gay, who used to post there, and Gator baited her constantly. I used to cringe over some of the stuff he posted. But she took it for a long time before telling him off and then leaving for good. Anyone remember her name?

I was probably a Mod on The Annoyed Army back in the days you're talking of (2005-2012). TAA is long defunct. But gator does have a reputation and I heard of him when I was on Republican Operative. His rep wasn't/isn't good. FlaGator is still a regular on CU and is a good guy.

LibraryLady from Louisiana was good, great, until she went soft over the IdiotBriggs primitive's pregnancy problems.

She was the one who introduced me to my fellow Nebraskan Omaha Steve, much to my later profit.

There was another librarian there, Lindanumbers, from Virginia or thereabouts, who was very helpful on researching primitives, and possessive of a nice sharp wit too.  I was practically in love with her.

Gingersnap, the kindest of all the kind women at our old home, I think worked for a library, or had a friend who worked for a library.

Those were the best sorts of members at our old home it was good to hang around, if one needed to know more than what one knew, about the primitives.

Didn't know Library Lady ever went soft. I remember that she was a big Fred Thompson supporter, and when I once suggested Bobby Jindal for prez (probably '08) she said they needed him to keep cleaning up Louisiana for a few years. She had MS, and abruptly stopped posting. Always wondered what that meant . . .

Fred was my fave that time, sadly he dropped before my state's primary (I'd already voted for him absentee, since I was deployed at the time).   Seemed like he just wasn't really committed to the whole thing at that point, but he probably also had the word on who the GOP-e was going to back and it wasn't him. so probably the smart thing to do.  Still would've been fifty times better than the putz we did pick.

After a night of sleeping on it I believe it was Daveman, Frank.  My recall says that the RNG cabal, for wont of a better word, opened up a proboards website called conservativecomfort.com. Darkhalo was a mod there and mentioned something about how he saw the IP addresses of the CU lurkers and then Daveman banned him. Or maybe it was the other way around... but I do not think so.  That is what had me confused.  Damn. I used to have pretty much total recall until my stroke. I may have it completely backwards... or completely wrong.   :banghead:

I do remember Darkhalo backstory well, who I think lived in Mexifornia, and his girl friend, who lived in Colorado. Can't remember her handle but both of the them always seemed like decent folk.

Gator was/is an asshole.  I can't remember the handle of the lady who you are talking about... I do remember her though. Seemed like a nice lady.  As for Gator the Assholio... he was the reason I never joined CU. If he would have started his moral clarity BS with me I would have told him exactly what he was and would have gotten banned.

Ironically it was actually when Frank quit posting there that I went looking for him and found him here and decided to join.

It was Skinner, Freeper, and Daveman. I remember Conservative Comfort, which was formed by Skinner and RNG. It was short lived as it lasted no more than several months. I thought at the time that Skinner was recently divorced. I saw RNG at Republican Operative (RO) in early 2005 before she came to CU.

As for DarkHalo's girlfriend that time it was ToastedHead.

I remember there was a CU get together and there was a lot of infighting afterwards, which happened in Fall 2005. Some left because of it.

Gator did not own CU. He was the Admin until he was forced out in 2011. I know many left CU because of him.

There was Jumpserve, a real piece of work.

"FredHead" wasn't a mocking nickname for all who favored Thompson over the rest of the R primary candidates of that year. "FredHeads" were people who went way over-the-top in fandom. As for the the 2008 primary winner, GAG!! I only voted McCain that November because of what I thought OhBummer! would be (and he was worse than I imagined!).

Usually generally most of the time one can predict with reasonable accuracy how a thread's going to turn out, but once in a while there's one that exceeds all expectations, all hopes.

Hey, I'm enjoying this trip down memory lane.

Speaking of, who was that dude that fabricated/exaggerated his military experience? Said he had a girlfriend who was a doc, and he posted a pic of her once. He said his daughter had gotten some kind of serious injury (lost an eye, maybe?)in Iraq.

He got caught, and that was a YUGE scandal, too.

Yeah, speed_addiction (I think that's the way it was) was of great help, invaluable help, during the scam that rocked the internet April-July 2005; it was too bad when he crashed.

Great memory, Frank.  If I thought more, might have popped into my brain.

He returned at CU after being banned, and was quite contrite.  But he was eventually given the ban hammer yet again.

Were you ever around when the owner, RobCrook, was active there?  By the time I showed up, he still owned the place, but rarely showed up.

He was a strange one, owner of a message board, but not interested enough in it to participate.

Yeah, I joined CU in April 2004.  Robcrook rarely posted, but owned the site.  SR & SLW eventually took over.  I wasn't a moderator at the time, but certainly recall some fun and weird experiences hanging out there.

There are a few people who posted that I wonder what happened to.  Constitutionally Speaking, Bijou, Bluto are several.  Some of the other folks I already know a bit about...DarkHalo, Freeper and of course Chris.  Probably others I've neglected to recall.

Yeah, I especially remember bijou, she is on the member list here too as a topic mod, but she stopped posting some years ago it seems.  Also some others I recall who fell away for one reason or another, like LedZepFan, Blessedx6, Philly, and Sonnabend (Who was here but left after posting an extremely inappropriate pic in a shortbus thread that caused a shitstorm).

Many others as well, the chronic and aggravating instability of CU when Gator was the Mod was an endless aggravation, several times it crashed and wiped out everyone's history and memberships, then those that hadn't thrown in the towel (Fewer each time) would get back on and put up with Gator's crap for awhile and just when things got rolling again everything would get wiped out.  I began to expect the big A-hole was doing it on purpose.  Finally CC was stood up and I shifted to it, Gator was still running CU and I couldn't get back on (SR later told me Gator had banned me for no known reason) but at that point I wasn't interested in trying anymore.  Once SR and SLW took over CU it was a million times better, but Gator's stupid-ass crap had driven off large numbers of the best posters and it's been a tough fight to bring it back (Hats off to SR and SLW for doing it!)

There were those women moderators who were real pains in the ass.  Melinda Margery Melissa Melody; I forget their exact names, but they all started with an "M."

I think one of them was somebody's girlfriend, but this is all from when I first joined (May 2005), and I wasn't aware of the backstories on them.

Gingersnap out of Colorado was great; she was always mellow.

Her galpal Shannon was, uh, kind of volatile.

I was in love with Lindanumbers, the librarian from Virginia, and always wished she'd migrate here.

The tumultuous debate over mayonnaise was awesome, but I don't remember what incited it, other than that she did.

I remember him and his story Ptarmy... he explained it one time when someone called him on it.  Supposedly, according to him, he got busted selling drugs and got life in the federal pen. Got out when there was a supreme court case that invalidated his life sentence. He also supposedly owned a gas station, and used to post pics of a hummer that he said was his. Not to mention he  was supposedly married to a naturalized mexican lady and had had 3 teenage daughters.

Shorty after someone figured out he was never a US Army Ranger or Green Beret or something like that,  he posted that he closed the station.  I remember thinking at the time that every word out of his mouth was a lie.  I was really surprised that he actually came back and posted there.  Never heard him mention the wife or kids again either.

I think his whole persona was a lie.  Could be wrong, who knows.

I joined in February 2004 and Rob would post pretty often. In fact, he was the one who set up the Best/Worst of DU forum not long after I arrived because between me, DarkHalo, gator, SR, Kobati, and others, we were bringing over DU threads and poking fun at them, so he decided to make it into its own forum. Seems he got ill and had to cut back posting not long after I had arrived there, so that accounts for him not being there much.

I remember when Rob started the forum, this nutso DUer who was at CU named ElectroPrincess said something like "Oh you've done it now. They won't like this site dedicating a forum to laughing at them." I answered back "You got to be kidding! There's no way that'll happen. They won't even care!" Boy, I was wrong about that because they hit the ceiling and have ever since.

I had met daveman on the SF Indymedia site and told him about CU and he came over in March, 2004. A whole bunch of others, including Ralph, came over in April 2004 when this primitive named Supercrash posted about CU on the island. Suddenly, the site doubled in members in about a week. Ah, good times!

Lanie posts pretty infrequently, and no particularly long when she does. I've only been on CU for about 4 years and was always puzzled by some members' strident and hostile responses to her. It was disproportionate to what I was seeing from her. Obviously it was due to their previous experiences with her before I came around. I doubt that Lanie (2018 edition) or noonie would last long on DU.

That's quite a list, frank.

I think most people just move along with life and either don't have the time or life's circumstances change or they determine that on-line formats like this can become too addictive so they swear off posting. Most of us can certainly empathize with these, as I have often found myself chatting here when I should be busy doing other things.

I'm getting where I have less and less time to be here. And if you read the last postings of these individuals, all was normal and they just stopped, which tells me they decided their attention and time was needed elsewhere.

If his case really went to the US Supreme Court, it would of been in the news. He also claimed he killed someone.

I remember he called out for his lies. He was banned but came back and was banned again.

Anyone remember Hook'em Horns? She passed away in November 2005.

His case wasn't the one that made it to the USSC.  I was thinking it had something to do with sentencing guidelines for certain drug crimes and he happened to be one of them.  Something about life sentences, which he said he was serving when the ruling came down in the late 90's, and he supposedly got resentenced to time served.  Whether or not any of it was the truth I have no idea.

I remember Hook 'em Horns. Do you know what happened to her?

If I recall correctly she had a fatal heart attack at 39 yrs of age. Her husband also posted at CU... don't recall his handle.  Hook'em Horns always used the term "dipsydoodles" as the link description whenever she was making fun of the dummies.  I always used to get a chuckle out of her skewering the dummies.

Either way, I don't believe in Speed_Addiction's story.

As for Hook'em Horns, I heard it was pneumonia and passed away on Thanksgiving Day in 2005. Her legacy is making fun of DUmmies. Good times.

So many familiar names, so many lost far too soon.
