Parkland student David Hogg calls for 'die-in' protest at Publix supermarkets
One of the most visible Parkland activists is calling for a “die in” at Publix supermarkets Friday to protest its donations to gubernatorial candidate Adam Putnam, whose pro-gun stance gets him a top rating from the National Rifle Association.

David Hogg, who helped galvanize the “March for Our Lives” movement after the massacre at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High, told his 799,000 Twitter followers on Wednesday they should “die in” at Publix stores. It entails lying on the ground inside supermarkets for 12 minutes at 4 p.m. Friday.

Hogg is a student at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, where gunman Nikolas Cruz on Feb. 14 killed 17 people and wounded 17 more.

Hogg called Publix an “#NRASellOut” through his Twitter account, criticizing the Lakeland-based chain’s donations to Putnam, who once labeled himself on social-media platforms as “a proud #NRASellout.” On Tuesday, Hogg called for a boycott until Publix pulled its endorsement of Putnam and on Wednesday, he called for the “die in.”

Putnam’s stance and votes on guns have earned him the gun lobbying group’s A-plus rating.

Publix’s $670,000 donation to the gubernatorial candidate came to light last week in the Tampa Bay Times.

Responding to some customers’ disappointment over the endorsement, the company has tweeted that Publix has supported Putnam since he ran for the state House of Representatives as its hometown candidate.

Still no DUmmy responses.  Even they are sick of him.

Any conservative-oriented motorcycle clubs in the area? :-)

IIRC, Publix stores are mostly in the Southeast.  So I would image you might find an MC club in the region.

I got 3 within 5 miles of me. I might have to take a drive to a couple on Friday around 4p. Hope I don't accidentally hit any weird speed bumps.  :-)

Remind me to start going to Publix more often. Nothing quite like supporting businesses that attention- hungry liberal turds like Hogg try to boycott against, and Adam Putnam seems like a good candidate.

Instead of a "Die-In" how about a "Stay-Out" to represent the reaction of Sheriff Israel's department to the active shooter?

Nothing to report. The only "die-in" were customers dodging the rain getting back to their cars.

The "Die-In" was DOA?

Friend, to a mortician: How's business?

Mortician: It's great! It's really dead, and people are just dying to get in! :rimshot:  :bolt:

Publix halts political contributions ahead of Parkland students' 'die-in' protest
Source: MiamiHerald

Supermarket giant Publix said Friday it has halted all corporate political contributions. The company made the announcement moments before a planned "die-in" protest organized by David Hogg, a vocal Parkland school shooting survivor

Moments before the protest began, Publix released a statement apologizing for putting its employees and customers "in the middle of a political debate" and announcing a suspension of political contributions.

The statement reads, in full:

"At Publix, we respect the students and members of the community who have chosen to express their voices on these issues. We regret that our contributions have led to a divide in our community. We did not intend to put our associates and the customers they serve in the middle of a political debate. At the same time, we remain committed to maintaining a welcoming shopping environment for our customers.

"We would never knowingly disappoint our customers or the communities we serve. As a result, we decided earlier this week to suspend corporate-funded political contributions as we reevaluate our giving processes."

The wife loves Publix but it sure looks to me like they "Cratered" on this one.

I would point out that at this point I am no fan of Putnam.   He is supported by 'big sugar'  :whatever:   Any how, a few links on the issue for those so inclined:

I was surprised that Publix was considering contributing to any political figure to be honest. Grocery stores are there to provide food and take your money, they don't care about the customers politics. They're so popular here in Florida I doubt doing so would make much of a dent, but why take the chance. Stay neutral.

What if they gave a protest and no one showed up including the media?

hoggie boy's 14 minutes are up.  He didn't even make it to 15.

He is still around as a meme of how stupid kids are and how hogging the camera with zero thought just looks asinine.

Something tells me that the backlash will be far worse than what the Hoggsters had threatened. Had management come out and said they wouldn't be threatened by these weasels, then had them arrested for trespassing when they lay on the floor, their popularity among the normals would have skyrocketed and may have even been a windfall, certainly guaranteed uptick. Now they will feel the brunt that many other institutions have felt: Namely, NRA members have MONEY, student's DON'T.

Yeah, English may be Hogg's only language, but it obviously isn't his "first language". :-)

Publix has  pretty much cornered the grocery store business in south Fla. they build stores everywhere and have put several chains out of business. I avoid shopping there as much as possible. I go to a walmart grocery store that is close and prices are a lot cheaper.

South Fla is full of liberals, all the yankees from the NE have moved here and are f**king the place up like the states they left. It is a shame to see this happen. :thatsright:

I am aa firm believer that businesses need to stay out of political pissing contests like this.

South Florida is the Sixth Borough of New York.

South Florida is the Sixth Borough of New York.

When I lived  in Miami we use to say it was the furthest North you could go in the South.  Que the classic old joke:  "What's your favorite Jewish wine?"   "Morty, when are we going to Miami."  :rimshot: Try the veal, I'll be here all week!

With that said, it appears that 'Lil Davie went Hogg Wild and tripped the unexpected consequences landmine.  Sad but true.  In his mad dash to fame at any cost he cost many causes liberals hold near and dear big bucks.  Shazam, Lil Davie done screwed up. :lmao:

Because David Hogg convinced Publix to pull political funding from an NRA supporting candidate, they also backed out of funding for same-sex marriage and abortion advocacy...

In a fortuitous circumstance, I liquidated all my Publix stock last year.  Dodged that bullet...
