Good news; bad news - You can get anything you want
at the religionnews.com restaurant. There's good news and bad news everywhere, it seems. One thing does not eliminate the other.
Religion, in general, is like that, too. It does good things and bad things. One does not eliminate the other. One does not compensate for the other. It's just good and bad.
One bit of news in any subject area is just one bit of news. That one bit of news has nothing to do with other bits of news, necessarily.
It's all just information.

What is it with him and religion lately?

He's getting close to meeting God and I think it scares him. It should.

I doubt this will help, but MM should try:

He is having a philosophical moment while he sits on the throne having a dump.

If you yell at God enough He just goes away, right?

Beat me too it. Same thing I was thinking. I'm kinda hoping St. Peter takes bribes myself.

Unfortunately I think there are a lot of people who feel that way. I don't live anywhere near the way I should, but I know there's a God and I know He is in control. I know one day I will meet Him face to face, and I'll be ashamed of a lot of things I've done.
That is the difference between myself and MM. He doesn't know he's going to be ashamed, but in the end, every knee will bow, and every tongue will confess that He is Lord.

You and me both, my friend.

Ditto to that thought.

Good and bad can be very subjective when there is no agreed-upon yardstick with which to compare them with.

;;Like their other "standards", DU-folks' standard for discerning right and wrong can be summed up in two letters, M E.

I'm thinking of calling MM a new name; MOTO. Master Of The Obvious.

Posting about a coin flip would be just about as interesting. :lame:

Amen!
I trust in Jesus, but I know I too could do a better job of showing it through my actions at times, and I know I will be ashamed of my things I've done when I stand before God's throne.
The difference is, you and I recognize we have sinned, do not make excuses for it, and have repented and sought His forgiveness. MM has not done any of this, out of pride. That pride will end up costing him eternity, if he stays on the path he's currently on.

MM's post is, in part, written to be an allusion to Arlo Guthrie's "Alice's Restaurant". Unlike MM's post the 20+ minute story in "Alice's Restaurant" was funny.
