Call of Duty player, 25, is arrested for swatting hoax where cops shot his 'online gaming rival' dead after he 'called 911 pretending to be the victim and said he'd shot his father and was holding his mother and brother hostage'

Los Angeles police on Friday arrested a 25-year-old gamer they say made a prank call that led a SWAT team to fatally shoot an innocent man over an online gaming dispute.

Tyler Barriss was detained by the LAPD hours after Andrew Finch, 28, of Wichita, Kansas, was shot dead by police.

Authorities suspect Barriss called 911 and concocted a story about a hostage crisis in a Wichita, Kansas home.

That is really crazy. A lot of blame to go around with Tyler Barriss and the cop who shot Andrew Finch.

This has happened several times in the past few years. Time to make examples of these punks and charge them with murder.

There were several SWATtings several years ago, some Hollyweird celebs, some conservative bloggers ("Patterico" and Eric Erickson come to mind). I had not heard of anyone being shot as a result, however. I would not be surprised if some SWATtings of some well known conservative figure happen again. That's the way Progs roll.
