Nevertheless, as I explained in connection with George Papadopoulos (who also pled guilty in Mueller’s investigation for lying to the FBI), when a prosecutor has a cooperator who was an accomplice in a major criminal scheme, the cooperator is made to plead guilty to the scheme. This is critical because it proves the existence of the scheme. In his guilty-plea allocution (the part of a plea proceeding in which the defendant admits what he did that makes him guilty), the accomplice explains the scheme and the actions taken by himself and his co-conspirators to carry it out. This goes a long way toward proving the case against all of the subjects of the investigation.
That is not happening in Flynn’s situation. Instead, like Papadopoulos, he is being permitted to plead guilty to a mere process crime. A breaking report from ABC News indicates that Flynn is prepared to testify that Trump directed him to make contact with the Russians — initially to lay the groundwork for mutual efforts against ISIS in Syria. That, however, is exactly the sort of thing the incoming national-security adviser is supposed to do in a transition phase between administrations. If it were part of the basis for a “collusion” case arising out of Russia’s election meddling, then Flynn would not be pleading guilty to a process crime — he’d be pleading guilty to an espionage conspiracy.

Former national security adviser Michael Flynn's guilty plea Friday for lying to the FBI is alarming news for Donald Trump. But the first person it's likely to jeopardize will be the president's son-in-law, Jared Kushner.
Two former officials with the Trump transition team who worked closely with Flynn say that during the last days of the Obama administration, the retired general was instructed to contact foreign ambassadors and foreign ministers of countries on the U.N. Security Council, ahead of a vote condemning Israeli settlements. Flynn was told to try to get them to delay that vote until after Barack Obama had left office, or oppose the resolution altogether.
That is relevant now because one of Flynn’s lies to the FBI was when he said that he never asked Russia's ambassador to Washington, Sergey Kislyak, to delay the vote for the U.N. Security Council resolution.
The indictment released today from the office of special prosecutor Robert Mueller describes this lie: "On or about December 22, 2016, Flynn did not ask the Russian Ambassador to delay the vote on or defeat a pending United Nations Security Council resolution."

I still see no crime other than lying to the FBI and that is solely on Flynn.

A breaking report from ABC News indicates that Flynn is prepared to testify that Trump directed him to make contact with the Russians — initially to lay the groundwork for mutual efforts against ISIS in Syria. That, however, is exactly the sort of thing the incoming national-security adviser is supposed to do in a transition phase between administrations.
Key point, this happened AFTER Trump had been elected President. And as long as the talks have to do with matters with which an incoming President will be dealing, this was something that should be done. Frankly, if Obama, Bush, Clinton, Bush, Reagan, and Carter people did not do analogous meetings during their transition, they handled the transition poorly. And I'm sure such meetings did not originate with Carter, either.

Yawn. Flynn is broke. Lawyer fees mounting up. His business down the toilet. He took the best path he could. Can't blame him.
Give me a team of special prosecutors, an unlimited budget and I can nail just about anyone for lying.
This is one thing I just never understood. The MSM and their law experts advice was cooperate if you did nothing. Bullshit. I would have told them to **** off, and if they bring me before a grand jury I would plead the fifth on any and all questions. Oh and before I did that I would say "I have the right to consult with an attorney of my choice and he is currently unavailable. I'll get back to you when he is available. When will he be available? When I get the money to pay for it."
Did the man lie or not recall during the interview? I have no idea. Does the conversation with the ruskies point to conspiracy? Don't think so.
All this crap is nothing more than a DC witch hunt. They can't get to Trump so they are going to scare anybody thinking about working for him into not working for him.
Now if I was President Trump... I would say at the state of the union address that I was appointing a special prosecutor team to investigate all the sex harassment thing of congress members. Then I would tell them it was an open ended deal and the SP had authority to look into their financial dealings for "any settlements". Same for all senior non political appointed management of all agencies.
Now trust me on this, that would put the fear of god in them and their donors... and it needs to be done. No quicker way to drain the swamp than scare the donors off.

Don't pay to not be rich and work in DC when the scandal hits. President Trump should have paid all the legal fees for all those folks and got top flight attorneys.

We find out the FBI lied their asses off to the American public about the Clinton-Lynch tarmac collusion meeting. Then Michael Flynn is in Hot Water for lying to the FBI.
What makes the FBI so damn precious that they cannot be lied to, but they can lie to us at any time it is politically convenient without an consequences whatsoever? Why isn't this being asked day and night until we get an answer?

The erroneous reporting of this yesterday stirred up alot of shit and even affected the stock market for a period of time
ABC News on Friday evening corrected an explosive special report that aired in the morning saying that Donald Trump, as a candidate for president, had asked Michael Flynn to make contact with Russians.
During "World News Tonight," ABC News investigative reporter Brian Ross said the source who had provided the initial information for his story later told him that it was as president-elect, not as a candidate, that Trump asked Flynn to contact the Russians.
The initial report, based on one anonymous source, prompted a dramatic reaction in the financial markets, and the Dow fell more than 350 points.

I would fully expect any President Elect to have his potential cabinet make contact with key governments so they can hit the ground running on day 1.
