Title: Women spend 3,276 hours getting ready
Post by: bijou on August 18, 2008, 07:17:07 AM
Quote
The time women spend putting on make up and getting dressed works out at 3,276 hours over their lifetimes while men only devote 1,092 hours to looking their best.

A survey of 1,000 women also showed that 67 per cent thought that the time spent getting ready was actually a chore.

Only a third of women said they enjoyed preening themselves.

They spend about half an hour washing and styling their hair followed by 20 minutes applying make-up and 15 minutes applying nail varnish.
...

Heather Boden from Skinbliss, who commissioned the research, said: "The figures come as no surprise considering the pressure that today's women are under just to make themselves look good.

"There's a host of waxing, exfoliating, moisturising, straightening, polishing and plucking involved in getting ready for a night out. When you're stretched for time or just simply want to get out, see your friends and have a good time, the routine of getting ready can often be an unwanted task."

All that to make men notice them just so they can then give him the cold shoulder. :-)

Always seems that way when we're late leaving.

At our house it's referred to as "car trouble".  I can't get her to get in the car.   :thatsright: :-)

I don't actually believe that most men notice things like nails , hairstyle and makeup. We're more concerned with the more err tangible features and the Big Questionâ„¢  ... In general of course.

All that preening and primping is done to impress OTHER WOMEN.

  :-) :bolt:

I'm fairly certain it takes me a lot longer than a half an hour to take a shower and "style" my hair but I don't apply "nail varnish" to my nails  so it probably evens out.

I can get ready from start to finish in 45-60 minutes. Before I started growing out my hair...I could do it in 30-45. If I can survive another month of hot weather with my hair...I'm keeping it....otherwise I'm going back to short. Takes too long to dry.... :whatever:

Not me...I usually air dry my wavy hair (in the summer) I only moisurize and apply lipgloss and I'm out the door.

(Of course I did get my eyes tattooed and my lips....eyeliner and lipliner...5 years ago and still looks fresh  :-))

It hurt like hell...and I already had 2 fairly large tattoos on my lower legs.  Those tats were a massage compared to the eyes and lips line..but she did such a nice job...very natural....it was worth it.

I don't think I voluntarily let someone near my eyes with a needle. I fainted the first time I put a contact lens in them! My mouth is kind of crooked on my face (badly broken jaw at 13) and I don't use lip liner cause it just accentuates it.

I'm one of those women, that if I was stuck on a desert island with only 1 item of makeup, it has to be mascara....anything else I could do without.

For some women, it doesn't really matter how long they spend "getting ready"....they'll never get there....
