Hillary Clinton slammed for ‘ignorant’ statement on guns after Las Vegas shooting
Hillary Clinton took heat Monday for issuing what critics called an “ignorant” and “irrelevant” statement going after the NRA and silencers in the hours after the Las Vegas mass shooting.
“The crowd fled at the sound of gunshots. Imagine the deaths if the shooter had a silencer, which the NRA wants to make easier to get,” she tweeted, adding: “Our grief isn't enough. We can and must put politics aside, stand up to the NRA, and work together to try to stop this from happening again.”
Conservative commentator Ben Shapiro, editor in chief of The Daily Wire, blasted Clinton’s tweets as “Ignorant, irrelevant and exploitative.”
Radio host and CIA veteran Buck Sexton had a similar take: “Appallingly stupid, and entirely irrelevant, Mrs Clinton She knows nothing about firearms, and even worse, she doesn't care.”
Connecticut’s senators, who have been especially outspoken on gun control ever since the 2012 Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting, were among the first to issue statements Monday.
“Nowhere but America do horrific large-scale mass shootings happen with this degree of regularity,” Sen. Chris Murphy, D-Conn., said in a statement. “This must stop. It is positively infuriating that my colleagues in Congress are so afraid of the gun industry that they pretend there aren't public policy responses to this epidemic. There are, and the thoughts and prayers of politicians are cruelly hollow if they are paired with continued legislative indifference. It's time for Congress to get off its ass and do something."
Connecticut’s other Democratic senator, Richard Blumenthal, issued a similar statement.
“It has been barely a year since what was previously the largest mass shooting in American history – the deadly attack at Pulse nightclub. In the interim, thousands more have been lost to the daily, ruthless toll of gun violence. Still, Congress refuses to act. I am more than frustrated, I am furious,” he said.
Most recently, a federal appeals court last week delivered a win for gun rights activists by keeping in place another court’s ruling that it was unconstitutional for the District of Columbia to require gun owners to provide a “good reason” for legally carrying a concealed weapon in the nation’s capital. The dispute could be on a path to the Supreme Court.

CNN: ‘Keep In Mind, Country Music Fans Are Likely Trump Supporters’
Son. Of. A. B*tch. If I despised CNN before, I detest them now. Especially Jeff Zeleny. He had the nerve to randomly point out that country music fans were probably Trump supporters. Like somehow, that makes it okay.
Zeleny is a senior White House correspondent. He should have his press pass and privileges yanked over that comment. I mean that. Zeleny said he found the speech to be “pitch perfect,” but then asked people to “keep in mind” that many country music fans are Trump supporters. WTH? So, because he couldn’t find fault with the President’s speech, he attacked those that died last night. Nice touch CNN. “Something else, I think, to keep in mind–a lot of these country music supporters are likely Trump supporters,” Zeleny said. “This is something, of course, hitting the tapestry of all Americans and there are going to be victims from across the country here.”

Kind of a rhetorical question, but when isn't she ignorant? She has no clue how real people live. Yet she thought she was entitled to be 50 points ahead.

A former CBS legal executive, Hayley Geftman-Gold, responded to the deadly attack by suggesting on social media that the victims got what they deserved.
"If they wouldn't do anything when children were murdered I have no hope that Repugs will ever do the right thing," she said in a note on Facebook, likely in reference to the Sandy Hook massacre. "I'm actually not even sympathetic bc country music fans often are Republican gun toters."
The Daily Caller was the first to pick up her comments, and things went downhill from there. And by "went downhill from there," we mean Geftman-Gold was fired in a matter of hours by CBS.
The network wasted no time responding to news of her remarks, and announced in a statement they had let her go.

Democrat Refuses To Join Moment Of Silence For Las Vegas Victims, Calls It “Excuse”
Massachusetts Democrat Seth Moulton was in the news recently for saying his party has not learned the lessons of the 2016 election. Today he’s in the news for refusing to participate in a moment of silence for the victims of the shooting in Las Vegas.
The Washington Free Beacon reports:
House Democrat Refuses to Participate in Moment of Silence for Las Vegas Victims
A Democratic congressman announced Monday that he would refuse to honor a moment of silence held in memory of the people murdered in the Las Vegas mass shooting the prior night. In response, Massachusetts Rep. Seth Moulton (D.) said he would refuse to participate in a House of Representatives moment of silence.

@sethmoulton
As after #Orlando, I will NOT be joining my colleagues in a moment of silence on the House Floor that just becomes an excuse for inaction.

Politicizing Tragedy
I would really like to focus this report on the facts of what took place in Las Vegas and the need to pray for the victims and their families. But, unfortunately, there is such insanity on the left that I can't ignore it. Almost immediately, so-called "progressives" began to politicize the shooting, just as they do with every tragedy that happens in the country, including Hurricane Maria.
Hillary Clinton went on a tweet storm, posting among other things, "We can and must put politics aside, stand up to the NRA, and work together to try to stop this from happening again." But Hillary is injecting politics herself with that statement.
Drexel University Professor George Ciccariello tweeted, "It's the white supremacist patriarchy, stupid." Huh?
But the most outrageous reaction, so far, comes from a CBS legal executive. Referring to the Sandy Hook shooting, Hayley Geftman-Gold posted the following on her Facebook page:
"If they wouldn't do anything when children were murdered I have no hope that Repugs will ever do the right thing. I'm actually not even sympathetic [because] country music fans often are Republican gun toters."
