Title: My son vs. the baseball....who won? (updated, with pic)
Post by: Flame on August 15, 2008, 09:51:54 PM
The baseball.   <sigh>    My 13 yr old got whacked in the face at practice tonight.

Just got home from the ER.  He is now sporting a lovely broken nose.   He's bound and determined to play in his game tomorrow, though.  They don't have any back-up players, and he doesn't want to let down the team.

Life is a never ending source of fun and excitment around here!!

UPDATE:  Surprisingly, he didn't wake up with bruising or black eyes.  Played the whole game today, too.

This is what he looked like when we got home last night.

Same thing happened to my brother when we were in Little Leauge (minus the broken nose.  that happened later).  He was the starting pitcher and got hit in the face by the ball he had just thrown.

I took one off the dirt when i was trying to bunt in high school.  it hit me square in the nose.

after a good bit of blood, I stayed in the lineup

My little guy got smacked in the face with a baseball when he was 6. He had a bloody nose/lip and was seeing stars for about 30 minutes. He ended up going back in and finishing the game and got a standing ovation.

Yes, +1 for your son!!!

He is such a good looking boy Flame, the broken nose will add to his "war stories" later in life to impress the girls.

There is something inspiring and uplifting about the face of a determined 100% American boy.  Too bad about the nose.  I imagine to your son, it's just a bump in the road of life.

BTW, I got whacked in the face, across the bridge, with a bat.  I had double vision for hours.  After the initial pain, I thought it was cool.
