Grilled cheese using mayo instead of butter to cover the bread
Instead of butter use mayo to cover the bread. I just discovered this after reading about in online last night at work. I went crazy this morning I had to try it. made grilled ham cheese with eggs onions and banana peppers. Our son and his friend ate two but their both twelve and have hollow legs. to me mayo covers and spreads easily over bread and seems to toast better. I'm happy about this discovery thought I'd share.
Sounds okay.....minus the ham, eggs, onions, and peppers.
It's forever a mystery, why the primitives like to ruin food by putting strange ingredients in it.

3. Yup.
Spreading mayo on the bread after assembling the sandwich and then grilling is the way to go, I always do the when I make tuna melts.

6. Must try!
I love (real) mayo. Unfortunately it's the substance largely responsible for my hips. Mayo is also wonderful to use instead of beaten egg to get the crumbs to adhere to oven-fried chicken.

My wife made these using sharp cheddar and they are great.

Ah.
Grilled cheese sandwiches the way God meant them to be.

I immediately thought of chef John's recipe and I was right. Nothing better.

When I was 6 years old I had a bologna and mayo sandwich go bad on me. I threw up so hard it shredded my throat.
5 decades later I remember that taste and when it comes up in conversation I want to hurl again.
I am OK with mayo blends in things like potato salad and mac salad.
Put direct mayo on my sandwich and I will just throw it away (I have done so in catered events where they just put mayo without asking anyone).

I think that was it when I first saw it on Facebook going around. They're a little more trouble but well worth it.

Welp, there goes the sugar and cinnamon toast. :banghead:

Someone told me to try mayo on my grilled cheese when I worked at Waffle House. I decided to give it a try, and now I won't cook my grilled cheese any other way.
