Today marks the 30th Anniversary of the Rush Limbaugh Show, Rush's national show that he has hosted since August 1, 1987. A remarkable run.
I wasn't too political back in the 1980's amidst the Reagan economic boom. My brother and I were doing construction in Los Angeles, and normally listened to KNX Newsradio. But in August, the news station inexplicably changed their all-news programming to occasional feature shows, including the "Food News Hour" between 9 and 10am (Pacific time). My brother and I didn't like listening to such drivel, so he changed the station to KFI, where we first heard Rush's show. It was refreshing to listen to his show, and from then on, we listened to Rush for 2 hours every day (then later expanded to 3).
Talking to several other contractors, particularly seasoned contractors who weren't just into music, confirmed that many other Rush converts were switched from KNX for that very reason. Thanks to KNX's Food News Hour, Rush Limbaugh was catapulted into the national foray, at least in Los Angeles. I'm sure there were other similar switches around the country back in the later Reagan era.

I think it's the 29th anniversary and start of his 30th year. Every online source I've seen pegs the start of his national show as August, 1988. And since he started at KFBK Sacramento in 1984, that would be more than 30 years if counted from his start at KFBK.
If Guinness had a record for the most times the demise of a radio were prophesied, Rush would own that record.

arrgh...yes, thanks. I remember it was near the end of the great Reagan revolution and Laker-Celtic rivalry, and you are correct that it was 1988. The economy started to deteriorate in 1989, about the time that Reagan's few immigration mistakes started to metastasize, Bush's lips were read wrong, the Berlin Wall fell which was a huge dent in So California aerospace, and other factors. But the first few years it was great.

Listening now, and have been most days since '91.

Bismillah ir-Rahman ir-Rahim, As-salamu alaykum to all here.
No wonder why your brain is so rotten. Try Mike Malloy (REAL EIB) for a change, but not for the week starting July 31, 2017 until August 7, 2017, as Mike Malloy (EIB) is away.
Who? No one has heard of this fellow you named after yourself.
I googled him. He is syndicated in 13 markets in the entire USA. Rush is in thousands.
Your dude is 72 years old so it isn't like he didn't have time to establish himself. It is just that no one wants to listen to him.

Actually, Mike Malloy (EIB) has ZERO terrestrial affiliates. Mike Malloy (EIB) can only be heard on the internet, now.

Aaaah . . . they're all extra-terrestrial. :tinfoil:
That explains a lot. :whistling:

Ah. Well, his FB has 5,000 followers. So does Studio A Dance Gymnastics and Cheer Company.
Rush has 2.2 million. Sean has 3 million
Your guy is an old nothingburger.

I think f2003b got info from W'pedia that hasn't been updated for some 3 years, since Malloy is 75 as of a month ago. Maybe he needs some fanboys or fangirls to go update Malloy's W'pedia page. Speaking of updating, wouldn't it be more accurate, from fanboy's POV, to say EIP? Malloy no longer broadcasts.

Listened to him, and some of the Air America clowns years ago. Not only was it unentertaining, it was angry & bitter. No wonder that liberal talk radio fails.

I think Rush is ok. I once had a college professor who had taught him when he (Limbaugh) was in college.
I remember as a kid laughing at some of the sight- gags he used on his TV show (i.e. a clip that made Bill Clinton look like Forrest Gump).
I think some of his stuff works, others doesn't.
Now, to move on to someone who's never had any remotely good ideas and never said anything worth remembering or listening to:

Malloy is a bitter, lying, washed- up, anti- Semitic assclown. As I said in a response to one of your earlier posts singing that loser's praises, I'd rather listen to Rosie O'Donnell in the bathroom after she's finished eating a dozen Taco Bell burritos than listen to anything Malloy has to say.
I would ask what EIB stands for, but I honestly don't care, just as I don't care what you think about literally anything.

I started listening around 1990 or so. I also use to eat lunch at the little sandwich shop because they had his TV show on at noon.

Rush calls what he does, his show, "Excellence In Broadcasting", "EIB". MalloyFanboy, lacking originality and imagining we're more juvenile than his posts are, imagines that applying the initials to Malloy will rankle us. In reality ... .
That also is the context for my quip that EIP would be more accurate (given MalloyFanboy's POV), since Malloy apparently only does podcasts.
