And, again: "where in the Constituion does it say that everyone is entitled to healthcare?"
Was one on Chris Matthews earlier.
To which I reply: nowhere! Nor is it the Constitution that we are entitled to safe roads and bridges, to clean water, to safe food and medicine, to safe sky.
We the people empower our representatives to establish these programs by levying tax on us.
And thus far, it appears that most do support healthcare for all. One way or the other.
I see a few quoting "Life, liberty, pursuit of happiness", for their proof but what they do not understand is that quote gives you the freedom to pursue it and not a Government guarantee.
This next DUmbshit is the one that wants his free dope. :thatsright:

2. Life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness
pretty much covers the need for adaquate healthcare, safe roads, clean water, safe food, crime free neighborhoods, access to recreational substances etc., etc..
While these words are not included within our Constitution I have always considered these principles to be the basis of the very document.

All of this interpreted from life, liberty, pursuit of happiness but has great difficulty understanding the clear meaning of the spelled out 2nd amendment. :banghead:

21. That's in the Declaration of Independence, not the Constitution.
But the Constitution does say "The Congress shall have Power to lay and collect Taxes, Duties, Imposts and Excises, to pay the Debts and provide for the common Defence and general Welfare of the United States."

Right now you are entitled to air, that is until they pass a carbon tax. Otherwise you are on your own. You are ENTITLED to go out and fend for yourself, you lazy shit bags. :argh: :argh: :argh: :argh: :argh:

A "right" to pursue happiness is totally different from being given what you think will make you happy.

Stupid Leftists never understand that. :whatever:

A lot of them quoting the PREAMBLE "promote the general welfare" clause, which is what the gimme crowd has been doing for 50 years or more.
And some false equivalencies about safe food and the like.
Bottom line: if you think the Constitution guarantees GIVING everyone health care then you also think it guarantees everything else. That worked well in the USSR, Cuba and of course that poster child Venezuela.
-
Having a smoothly functioning and militarily safe nation fulfills the "promote the general welfare" clause.

If health insurance is a right then why is there a mandate to buy it? :banghead:

If healthcare is a right, then slavery is legal.

David Gergen was on MSNBC this morning insisting that that the health of the citizen was the primary point of the constitution, secondary was security.
We are going to see single payer gov run total takeover of the healthcare system in our lifetimes. It's discouraging as Hell, but it's going to happen. The toothpaste went out of the tube when we let Obama make it yet another entitlement program. It's now firmly in the hands of the gov and they will never let it go.
