Schadenboners at the ready! We venture onto the island this first 4th of July under Big Cheeto to see how the dejected primitives are doing. The rainy soul miasma cloud hanging over the island was so thick you nearly have to cut it with a knife to get through. Only a few campfires are burning, with NO primitives dancing around them, but merely sitting Elizabeth Warren style, stirring some long burnt out coals with the end of a stick:

I have no heart or want to celebrate this July 4th....1st time ever
It has been going downhill as holidays go. Fireworks from China sold by Wally were all we could afford-and how was that helping?.
Then there are the over achievers setting off military grade explosions because they have really big hands & want everyone to know. The asshat across a wildlife area set one off a few years back that killed our lovely crane nesting in the area. he was found dead the day after-likely a heart attack.
And now we have Russia just taking us to the sheets. And Republicans holding the victim down & cheering.
No

Way
Hope to be back-It would be nice to be proud of our country. I honestly was despite everything we had wrong we were basically a morale country. Not so much at least it is out in the open.

3. I am spending the 4th with a group of people who emigrated here from China
Are now US citizens and hard workers. They are having a BBQ in Golden Gate park serving Chinese style BBQ. They know more of our country historically and constitutionally than the average American.

8. It's What's Inside That Counts
It's what's inside that counts, not the public show, nor being a wannabe. We go to our local park and watch the fireworks and we celebrate inside our hearts and then return home.
Its ashamed our country was stolen by a commie loving pervert

11. I will put up a decorative house flag--with Snoopy holding a firework & waving flag
on Tuesday--but I can not bring myself to put out a US flag. Something about that seems so wrong.... Sigh...

12. Agreed. I don't feel like I have much of a country, any more.
And unless Democrats start fighting dirty and effectively with the ****ing repubs, and damned soon, I'll feel the same way about my political party. Enough of this wandering in the wilderness and the endless critiques---let's strike back.

They don't feel like celebrating. They tell us we're not allowed.
Too bad for them there's our long established policy where we point and laugh at them while not caring what they might say to us.
.

Well done BattleHymn H5!

To the dummies:
I hope you wallow in misery and your hate eats into your psyches to the point that you die a painful death. This would please real Americans.

Hi5 BattleHymn, Great post!
I spent the morning on my Harley, came home to my new John Deere riding mower being delivered. Then had burgers with all the fixings.
What a great American day!

I spent the holiday, with my beautiful wife and daughter, at my parents' house. They grilled steaks for us, and my dad and I talked about the state of things today. I still can't convince him to actually use his unrestricted (read: concealed carry) handgun license. I'll keep working on him. He showed me how to take down a handgun that my grandfather owned, that is now in my possession (legally). My daughter was able to spend a bit of time with my parents, which is never a bad thing.

We had a pleasant weekend:
* I worked Saturday, so She-Who-Must-Be-Loved, :-) , had the day to herself;
* Sunday we grilled burgers and 'dogs and spent the afternoon and evening with good friends;
* Monday, SWMBL worked and I had the day off, so I relaxed and put up enough rods to display the next 2-3 years of race mementos (bibs and medals); in the evening we had some really good pizza;
* Tuesday was relaxing, shopping, and really good Americanized "Cantonese" Chinese food; I could have done one of I don't know how many July 4th races, but decided to save my energy for next weekend, when I have a race where I have up to 12 hours to get in ?? miles.
Knowing DU-folk resent and hate my enjoyment of this celebration of freedom made the celebratory things I did just a little sweeter.

I would have figured that they has some sort of celebration in the state penitentiary, but I guess it wouldn't be wise to give the inmates access to explosives...

3. They know more of our country historically and constitutionally than the average American.
That's because of liberals have destroyed the American school system by taking out anything pertaining to the founding of this country.

That might be because the Chinese immigrants to whom she referred didn't attend modern US public schools!

2016 -2024 are definitely going to be much better than 2000-2008. I think we might see some actual suicides from the Dump after "The Prez" wins again in 2020.

Great thread indeed - pathetic when TheMasturbatingNemesis can celebrate something and they can't.

I am continuously amazed at a bunch of people who specifically go out of their way to be miserable at a happy time.
My 4th was far from grandiose: I spent the late morning/early afternoon mowing the grass while it was hotter than the hinges of the front door of Hell, and then I relaxed. Neighbors behind me had been blaring music off of their back porch, and came around a little later to apologize because they didn't realize some of the speakers had been pointing out into the neighborhood. I jokingly said that I almost couldn't hear them over the lawn mower, we had a good laugh, and they invited me over for a beer and a burger if I was interested. I wound up not going, but I certainly appreciated the invitation.
Nashville had one of, if not the largest fireworks celebrations in the nation. I decided that after a day spent out in the heat mowing grass, I just wasn't interested in going downtown and fighting a crowd of a quarter million people while it was still hot as a tire fire outside, so I stayed home and watched it on TV instead. I was rather amazed that, from 30-odd blocks away, the booms of the fireworks still shook the windows of the house. Other than having the actual symphony there playing the actual songs timed to the fireworks (and yes, they do things like time the 1812 Overture and Anchors Away to the actual fireworks each year), it was thoroughly enjoyable to watch and enjoy.
Even in this deep blue dot in a sea of dark red, literally a million people, all told, when one factors in all of the "satellite" fireworks shows, managed to have a great time and enjoy each others' company. Save but for a tiny handful of hate-filled douchebags like DUmmies, who doubtlessly sat at home grousing about those fundies out there enjoying themselves all day.
