Multiple states reject request from Trump's voter fraud commission to provide voter roll data

Officials in at least five states say they will reject a request by President Trump's voter fraud commission to turn over all publicly available voter roll data.

By late Thursday evening California, Kentucky, Virginia, Massachusetts and Connecticut signaled resistance to the request citing concerns over privacy, politics and one of the commission's top officials.

In a letter sent Wednesday to all 50 secretaries of state, the Presidential Advisory Commission on Election Integrity's vice chairman — Kansas Secretary of State Kris Kobach — requests the full names of all registered voters, their addresses, dates of birth, the last four digits of their Social Security numbers, voting history and other personal information.

The letter says that any documents submitted to the commission will also be made available to the public.

Alex Padilla, California's Democratic secretary of state, was the first to object to the request, releasing a statement Thursday vowing that he will "not provide sensitive voter information" to a commission that is pursuing "debunked claims of massive voter fraud."

"As secretary of state, it is my duty to ensure the integrity of our elections and to protect the voting rights and privacy of our state's voters," Padilla said. "I will not provide sensitive voter information to a commission that has already inaccurately passed judgement that millions of Californians voted illegally. California's participation would only to legitimize the false and already debunked claims of massive voter fraud made by the president, the vice president, and Mr. Kobach."

Padilla went on to call the commission a "waste of taxpayer money" and a "distraction from the real threats of the integrity of our elections today," which he considers to be Russia's interference in the 2016 campaign.

I would disagree with releasing that info knowing it would become public info as well.

If that data stayed within the system, I would be ok with it.

McAuliffe Defies Trump Voter Commission; His Attorney Led Soros-Funded Voter ID Challenges

Democratic Virginia Gov. Terry McAuliffe was the first governor to defy requests for information from Donald Trump's voter commission, announcing that he refuses to turn over voter registration information from the state.

An attorney for McAuliffe previously filed voter identification lawsuits in a number of states that were bankrolled by millions of dollars from liberal billionaire George Soros, who wants to expand the electorate by 10 million voters, documents leaked last year show. The governor's attorney also works with a number of major progressive groups on voter efforts.

Marc Elias, a powerhouse lawyer for a number of high-profile Democrats, is an attorney for McAuliffe. Elias is a partner at the D.C.-based law firm Perkins Coie and served as general counsel for Hillary Clinton's failed presidential campaign.

As Elias was serving as Clinton's top lawyer, he was simultaneously filing voter identification lawsuits in a number of states. Elias spearheaded the effort from his capacity as an attorney at Perkins Coie and separate from the Clinton campaign.

Elias began the effort by filing lawsuits in Ohio, Wisconsin, and Virginia. The Ohio Organizing Collaborative, one of the initial plaintiffs on an Elias lawsuit in Ohio, was replaced and later investigated for voter fraud. A canvasser for the group was ultimately jailed on 13 felony counts of voter fraud, including registering dead people to vote.

The voter identification efforts were fueled by at least $5 million from Soros, whose top goal includes expanding the electorate by at least 10 million people by 2018, the Washington Free Beacon discovered after hacked documents from the billionaire's organizations were leaked last year.

Kobach and this commission are out of line. State voter records are not the Federal government's business.

Voter registration files are usually public information aren't they?

That is a matter of state law. I don't know the laws in the states which are refusing.

========================

California won’t give the requested information to the Trump administration but sells it to organizations in the state.

Via Reddit
From a NBC 7 San Diego News article back in June 2013:

If you’re a registered voter, are you aware that what you write on your registration form is publicly available?

“Commercial” interests are barred from that data.

But all sorts of other people have legal access to it.

A lot of people think only government agencies can access voter registration information – the courts, for instance, to summon you for jury duty.

But it can be purchased for purposes such as scholarly and journalistic research, and for use in “elections” and “politics”.

Buyers are only a phone call away from you.

Conservative news outlets could face FEC 'Inquisitions' Over Russian "Collusion" (https://conservativecave.com/cave/index.php/topic,115310.0.html)

The research organization Just Facts in New Jersey has taken a fresh look at post-election polling data and concluded that the number of noncitizens voting illegally in U.S. elections is likely far greater than previous estimates.

The group found that many as 5.7 million noncitizens may have voted in the 2008 election, playing a large role in the election win of Barack Obama.

The work of professors at Old Dominion University in Virginia also found that as many as 2.8 million noncitizens could have voted in 2008.

For 2012, Just Facts said that 3.2 million to 5.6 million noncitizens were registered to vote and 1.2 million to 3.6 million of them voted.

The suspicion over illegal votes being cast in U.S. elections sparked the Trump Administration to create a commission on election fraud to investigate voter fraud and voter suppression.

Trump has alleged that some 3-5 million illegals voted in the 2016 election, robbing him of a better result in the popular vote.
