Congress is considering new legislation that would permit lawmakers to carry a concealed firearm wherever they perform official duties across the United States, according to a copy of the new bill that marks an unprecedented effort to help lawmakers confront a growing threat to their safety.
The legislation would supersede any other state or federal concealed carry laws, meaning that lawmakers would still enjoy the privilege even if secondary laws state otherwise. This is particularly significant, as the District of Columbia has notoriously strict gun laws that have complicated similar efforts in the past.
Members of Congress would be able to carry a concealed firearm in "federal parks and buildings, the national mall, to and from their offices, at schools and military bases" with just "a few limited restrictions," according to Babin's office.

I, as a concealed carry license holder in the PRNY, would like to be able to carry with the same 'restrictions' as Congressional members. Getting an 'unrestricted' handgun license in my state isn't easy, but there's reasons for that that I'm not going to discuss at the moment. It varies by county, and my county revamped their unrestricted qualification process in the last two years (you have to shoot a qualification course to prove that you know how to use a handgun). It's relatively easy, as long as you don't have a know-it-all attitude.

My permit...the only one I'll ever use...was issued in 1791, and recognized a pre-existing condition.
Of course my use of it will depend on my assessment of the risk of being hassled by persons in uniform who are ignorant of the scope of my permit.

This is, of course, directly in the aftermath of the Scalise shooting.
I find it completely predictable that, after RINO Extraordinaire and Speaker of the House Paul (Get ****ed, Trump) Ryan stood up in front of his liberal brethren and declared, "An attack upon one of us is an attack on all of us" with the appropriate thumping of the rostrum as he accented each word.
Really funny how being allowed to carry a gun is now Issue Number #1 for the career politicians that otherwise couldn't care less.
**** you, Ryan. You're an asshat through and through.

30 GOP Congressmen Have Been Attacked Or Threatened Since May
But no problem there, let’s just move on…
Via Free Beacon:
A total of 30 Republican members of Congress have either been attacked or revealed that they were the victim of a death threat since the beginning of May.
May 8: Wendi Wright, 35, was arrested after stalking Rep. David Kustoff (Tenn.) and trying to run him off the road. After pulling over, Wright “began to scream and strike the windows on Kustoff’s car and even reached inside the vehicle.”
May 9: Virginia Rep. Tom Garrett needed heavy security at a town hall after receiving a series of death threats in May that police “deemed to be credible and real.”
“This is how we’re going to kill your wife,” one message said. Others detailed how they would kill his children, and even his dog.
