Am I a bad person for finding Sandy Hook FAR more upsetting than Steve Scalise being shot?

I hate this place at times like this.
Is it really so hard to just be critical of the act and supportive of the victims?
What is the purpose of making it partisan, or saying it's OK because "they" did it first?
Does it really make you feel better to be that tribal? Aren't we trying to make things better?

1. it's partisan because if we don't make it partisan they will
the sorry state of our nation makes it needed to be just as shitty and dirty as they are. Democrats need to grow a thicker skin and not give a **** about offending anyone otherwise we will continue to lose elections

Yeah, like we never hear Giffords name anymore. She even got a ship named after her. So therefore you fail again. :loser:

Ah, the Methodist minister from Wa State spreads his perverted viewpoint on WWJD and proves he's really evil incarnate and a servant of Satan. What a foolish individual he is.

Lefty is putting on a show about "vile" today.

This leaves me speechless. I know the people over there are off their rocker, but their reactions to this is just beyond despicable.
All they can think about when something like this happens is it is some reichwing nut, when in fact it usually turns out to be a left winger.
Then the usual **** the NRA posts and how the victims deserve it.
These people are pushing violence and disruption of our society, they need to be labeled a hate group and dealt with as such.

But this is precisely why you lose. You've demonstrated that you can't be trusted with power. Now go eat shit.

25. No, you're just human. You have an opinion of some people's value over other people's value.
So not a bad person, but articulating this distinction of whose lives you care about more and whose lives you care about less, while representing liberalism, has its downsides, and this kind of post ends up being fodder on right-wing boards to gin up the sense that we are the monsters who don't value some human life.
Ask and you shall receive.

Actually, the point of this thread was not YDC's OP, but "gopiscrap"'s blaming the targets.
It's interesting that YDC wants to nuance between the children of Sandy Hook and today's targets, but when conservatives point out that many homeless people are not simply hard-luck cases, or that not all MEers claiming to be refugees are actually innocent victims fleeing hellholes ...

Good Grief! You cannot compare Sandy Hook to Steve Scalise being shot. Sandy Hook had 20 children massacred. :bird:

The SS as well as the FBI and several other security agencies have Twitter accounts that are monitored and they do respond to threats.

I kind of sort of agree with the op, simply on the grounds that the only life lost in the Scalise shooting was the liberal nutjob shooter himself (I earnestly wonder what his DU name was), compared to the considerable death toll in Sandy Hook, nearly all of children.
Though, gopiscrap is just a hateful douche, like usual.

A UMC minister, of course - "gosiscrap" is just gross. It would take an elephant gun to bring him down.
-
I've heard some interesting things are happening in the UMC. It's a world-wide organization, so representatives from all over the world come to their denominational conventions (or whatever the call the gatherings) where decisions are made about policy. The UMC is not homogeneous, and Methodists in Africa and Asia are theologically much much more conservative. Guess what areas are growing and shrinking :-) . So the theologically conservatives African and Asian Methodists are starting to steer policy decisions, and uber-liberals in the US "are not amused". I think there may be a split coming for the UMC.

Churches like the UMC put themselves where they are by drifting with the social winds, thinking they were sensitive to the needs of the people but actually demonstrating that they really stand for nothing concrete at all.

True enough, wrt the last 60 years. Before that theologically liberal abandoned the ideas of sin and salvation, and with the idea that men and women were basically perfectible and could create heaven here on Earth. That was the door through which socialist ideas and psychobabble ideas crept in. That also was the cause of the Fundamentalist Movement of 100-120 years ago.
